An Average Haul of Unrecyclable Plastic Heading to CRDC
The Center for Regenerative Design & Collaboration is a global non-profit organization that aims to reduce the world's plastic waste by converting it into useful building materials. Use the form below to join our local cooperative.
Plastics are ubiquitous. They are everywhere in our lives. We can't escape them and we can't properly recycle them when we're done with them. The City of Lancaster can't properly recycle them either so what do we do?
#1 Find meaningful ways to reduce the amount of plastic you bring into your home or use at work or school.
#2 Reuse what you can but be careful of how you handle plastic containers.
#3 Recycle what the City actually can take, plastic bottles and jugs with necks!
#4 Consider joining our CRDC Cooperative but remember, CRDC is NOT the ANSWER to our plastic problem! Our goal is to reduce, reduce, reduce. See #1.
Effective April 15, 2024 CRDC has a Pay-As-You-Throw program charging $2 a bag (33 gallon maximum) payable by credit/debit only at CRDC drop site. Certainly, this has now given us ALL more incentive to reduce our plastics!
To ensure our drivers are appropriately reimbursed the College Park CAN is now selling $2 stickers in advance of delivery. (Cash or check is preferred and purchasing multiple stickers will help to limit transactions for each monthly delivery drop moving forward)
These stickers must be attached to bags dropped off at drivers homes. We are also requesting that you log your name / number of bags dropped on the provided clipboard for tracking purposes, since drivers are not always present when you drop your bags off.
Drivers will pay CRDC at drop off. The receipt along with the log should be submitted to Doug Snavely @ 802 State St or email at Collegeparkcan@gmail.com for reimbursement from the CPCAN.
OUR GOALS:
#1 ENCOURAGE the REDUCTION of PLASTICS in our daily lives through awareness, education and lifestyle change
Limit the number of cars driving those plastics to York
Measure the success of the Cooperative over time, drivers are tasked with tracking the number of households participating, and counting and weighing each bag of plastic delivered to CRDC. If you’re interested in joining the Cooperative, please complete our CRDC Plastics Cooperative Sign Up Form. For more information, email CollegeParkCAN@gmail.com.
