Bessie Rooks or Belle. She is historically documented as Beile Freundlich Ratashinsky (also known as Bessie or Belle). Born in Austria/Poland in September 1879, she immigrated to the United States and married Joseph Ratashinsky (who later adopted the surname Rooks) in New York City on September 2, 1900 (see note below note 1). She passed away in 1942. She was preceeded in death by her husband Joseph (James) Rooks in 1932 and was survived by her many children, including Helen, Benjamin, Lucy, Leo, Arthur, Isadore, and Alexander Rooks. Her family roots were primarily tied to the Salem and Marblehead, Massachusetts Areas.
