Current Memebers

Fanqi Kong is a lab manager and graduate of the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program who is interested in human cognition and visual intelligence. Fanqi is also interested in the effects of unattended stimuli on cognition, consciousness, and neural processing. 

Carlos Federico is a graduate student who's research is focused on the top-down influence of knowledge formation on ambiguous information processing in the visual system. 

Morgan Nguyen is a lab manager and graduate student interested in cognitive neuroscience. Specifically, she is interested in studying the neural correlates of cognitive control in attention and motivated behavior, in order to better understand deficits in cognition. She is currently using EEG measures to examine the neural signatures of attention and decision-making. Her other interests include data science, applied statistics, and computational modeling.  

Joey Padilla is a graduate student researching the neural correlates of cross-modal sensory integration. Currently he is exploring how musical timbre interacts with object recognition, using a mix of behavioral and EEG methods 

Lab Director

Sean Doker is a graduate student in the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program. His research attempts to identify the neural signatures of short term attentional resource modulation by varying spectrums of environmental light stimulation.

Sarah Purnell is a graduate of the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program at SFSU. She is a Faculty Lecturer in the Psychology Department and a quantitative data analyst for the Time Lab at SFSU. Sarah is interested in the neural mechanisms of cognitive processes and how context influences perception, selective attention, and memory. 

Sean Chandler is a lab manager, graduate of the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program, and a full-time faculty lecturer at SFSU. His research explores the brain processes involved in maintaining stable meaning structures and the veridicality of our subjective experiences 

Alvaro Ramos is a graduate student in the Mind, Brain, and Behavior master's program, with research interests in electrophysiological and statistical methods to study pDecision making sychological phenomena. 

Joohee Won is a graduate student in the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program at SFSU. She is interested in cognitive processing and neural networks. Currently, she is focusing on bilingualism, executive function, cognitive control, and using neuroimaging techniques. 

Natalia Wieczorek is a graduate student in the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program at SFSU. Her interests include exploring the neural processes of cognition and memory through neuroimaging (EEG). Currently, she is focusing on measuring in-between resting states in relation to spontaneous thoughts. Specifically, analyzing the susceptibility to verbal thinking, visual imagery, and involuntary autobiographical memories.  

Karen Tarango is a graduate student in the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program at SFSU. For her master's thesis, she will be testing the cognitive mechanisms of individuals with a dyslexia diagnosis while applying neuroimaging techniques.  

Abby Krause is an undergraduate student at SFSU. She is currently assisting with studying spontaneous thoughts in relation to different types of memories using EEG measures.
