Coding + Challenge + Fun = Coding Land Competition

Coding Land is a one-of-a-kind competition for students who enjoy programming and want to test their skills on a set of exciting coding problems. This challenge tests your computational thinking, Scratch coding, and creative problem-solving skills, but most of all, it is about having fun.

Participants will be working on a set of multi-step coding problems designed so that everyone will find challenges matching their abilities and knowledge. These unique problems, which start as accessible for elementary-school students, require plenty of out-of-the-box thinking and Scratch skills for complete solutions.

Grading will be done by a team of experienced judges.   The event will be followed by a webinar, where the organizers will discuss the solution.

Coding Land takes place online and runs in individual format. Students grades 4-7 are invited.

The contest is offered in two levels: Coders and Coders Plus.
For the Coders level, we invite kids who enjoy Scratch coding and who have some experience with Scratch programming.
Coders Plus is for more advanced students with a deeper knowledge of the Scratch environment and better abilities to use the language to their advantage.
To learn more about skills required for Coders and Coders Plus, please read the FAQ section.

The contest takes place online, on Saturday, May 21st, 4:30-6:15 PM, Pacific Time

The results of the competition will be tallied by grades.  For example,  6th-graders performing at the Coders Plus level will be compared to other 6th graders at the same level.
All participants will get participation certificates. The winners will get diplomas.

Coding Land is brought to you by Prime Factor school and a team of volunteers passionate about coding education.

Prime Factor school offers a comprehensive, cutting-edge coding curriculum that emphasizes computational thinking, algorithms, and problem-solving.
We start with visual languages and slowly progress to professional languages like Python and Java. All the time, we set the development of computational thinking and coding skills as a higher priority and treat languages as educational tools.   Our classes go all the way from elementary school Scratch programming to high school coding competition prep.
