GETTING STARTED
1. Open CODEC and tap the plus button on the Home screen or go to the Convert tab.
2. Pick photos from your library or files.
3. Choose the output format (JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF), size and quality.
4. Tap convert, then save to Photos or share.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What formats can CODEC open?
HEIC, HEIF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, WebP and camera RAW files including CR2 (Canon), NEF (Nikon), ARW (Sony) and DNG.
How do I hit an exact file size?
Set a target size in the convert options, for example 1 MB, and CODEC automatically finds the quality and dimensions to reach it.
How do I remove location data from a photo?
Enable metadata stripping in the convert options. GPS coordinates and other metadata are removed from the output file.
How do batch renames work?
Add multiple files, open rename options, and use a pattern. All output files are renamed in sequence.
What are recipes?
A recipe saves your full conversion setup so you can rerun it later in one tap from the Recipes tab.
Do AI features send my photos anywhere?
Only if you use them. A compressed copy of the image is processed over an encrypted connection and never stored. Regular conversions always stay fully on your device.
How do I restore my purchases on a new device?
Open Settings inside CODEC and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account.
Something is not working. What should I do?
Force-quit the app and reopen it. If the problem continues, contact us with your device model, iOS version and a short description.
