CODEC — Privacy Policy

CODEC is built on a simple principle: your photos are yours. This policy explains what CODEC does and does not do with your data.
THE SHORT VERSION
CODEC does not collect, store or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no trackers and no analytics.
ON-DEVICE PROCESSING
All image conversion, resizing, compression, renaming and metadata removal happens entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to any server during conversion.
PHOTO LIBRARY ACCESS
CODEC uses add-only access to your photo library. This means CODEC can save converted images to your library but can never read, browse or scan your existing photos.
OPTIONAL AI FEATURES
CODEC includes optional AI tools for file renaming and alt text. When you choose to use them, a compressed copy of the selected image is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing service, used only to generate the result, and never stored. No name, email, identifier or location is attached to these requests. If you never tap an AI action, nothing is ever transmitted.
PURCHASES
All purchases are processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.
DATA RETENTION
We retain no user data, because we collect none. Your conversion history and settings live only on your device and are deleted when you delete the app.
CHILDREN
CODEC does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
CHANGES
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
