7-26 MINIMIZING VIDEO DISTRACTIONS (Jason G)
PROPOSAL: To minimize distractions to participants, it has been suggested that anyone who is engaged in a visually distracting activity turn off their camera unless they are sharing. The host and bouncer(s) would be authorized to stop your video if they consider it distracting.
MOTION TO BE MADE: Language should be added to our regular meeting script requesting that members who are engaged in visually distracting activity (walking, exercising etc.) please turn their cameras off if they are not sharing. A meeting host or bouncer, at their discretion, may turn your camera off while you are not sharing if they find your video distracting.
DETERMINATION: Approved 08/18/26
FOLLOW-UP: Script to be amended with the following addition on 08/28/26 after a week of announcing upcoming change at each meeting.
If you are engaged in a visually distracting activity: Walking, exercising, etc., please turn your camera off when you are not sharing. If you are in a high traffic area and people will be moving around behind you, please blur your background. If your video becomes distracting the host or co-host may choose to turn your video off. If this happens, you must direct message the host or co-host to be able to turn it back on.
