The minimum age limit to join Pony Club is 5 years as of the date of joining. You can stay in Pony Club as an active member until you are 25 years old. After that you can become a Horse Master.
Your membership and fees consist of three parts:
It is mandatory for Pony Club members to become members of the Provincial Equine Sports Organization in our province. In Alberta that is the AEF (Alberta Equestrian Federation). Joining AEF also provides you with personal liability insurance, which is a smart choice for any horse handler.
All members need to become members of the Canadian Pony Club, our national organization and our Region, Alberta South.
You will join our Cochrane Branch for either the full program, or the Stable Management program only.
Since our Pony Club uses the AG society grounds (Cochrane and District Agricultural Society), our members need to sign a waiver to be able to use those grounds. Cochrane Pony Club pays a user group fee, which is included in your Cochrane Branch membership fees. If you want to use the AG Society Grounds outside of Pony Club, you'll have to get a separate membership with them.
Unfortunately Cochrane Pony Club does not provide horses or ponies. You will have to bring your own or lease or borrow one from a third party.
Please note that the Pony Club does not allow stallions at any of its events and that horses or ponies need to be 5 years old or older. The Cochrane Pony Club reserves the right to excuse any horse/rider combination that is deemed unsuitable to be included in its activities (e.g. due to welfare or safety concerns).
If you are considering joining us, why don't you come out and visit us during one of our lessons or other activities we organize during the year. You can contact our DC to get more information on our program.
For the year 2025 the fees to join Cochrane Ponyclub are:
