Program Options

As a program, we offer several different playing options.  We have an Intramural program for boys in grades 2-8 and the LL Travel League for grades 5-6.   Players in grades 7 and 8 can try out for the Cocalico Middle School teams.  More information about each option can be found below.

This is our developmental program. There are separate intramural leagues for 2nd/3rd grades, 4th/5th grades, & 6th/7th/8th grades.  We typically have 6-8 teams of approximately 8 players in each of these leagues.  We try to have 2 coaches for each team (so please volunteer to help coach!).  All intramural practices and games will be held at the Cocalico Middle School gym.

• Season: The intramural season will run from late November to late February. Traditionally we have one practice per week with games on Saturday.

• Practice: Practices will start the week of November 18.

  • 2nd and 3rd grades - Tuesday nights between 6:00 and 8:00 pm 

  • 4th and 5th grades - Wednesday nights between 6:00 and 8:00 pm  

  • 6th, 7th, and 8th grades - Friday nights between 6:00 and 8:00 pm 

• Games: Games will start mid December. Exact schedule TBD

  • 2nd and 3rd grades - Saturdays usually between 9:00 am and 11:00 am

  • 4th and 5th grades - Saturdays usually between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm

  • 6th, 7th, and 8th grades - Saturdays usually between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm

• Fee: (includes Sport-Tek T-shirt/Jersey)

  • 2nd and 3rd grades - $55

  • 4th through 8th grades - $70 

The registration deadline for the CYB Intramural teams is Saturday, November 15th.

This is our "select" program. Teams consist of the top players in each grade based on evaluations during yearly tryouts. Not all players trying out for the travel program will be selected. We typically register one 5th-grade travel team and one 6th-grade travel team. The travel teams play teams from other Lancaster-Lebanon schools, generally within a 25-30 minute drive from our middle school, but sometimes longer.

Below are the tentative plans for the LL Travel season:

• Tryouts will be held on: (Exact dates pending facility approval.)

  • 5th-grade team - Monday, November 10

  • 6th-grade team - Tuesday, November 11

• Practice: 3-4 practices per week starting November 3rd, then 1-2 practices per week when games start. Days and times will vary, but should mostly be Monday, Thursday, and Saturday nights.

• League Season: Games begin the week of December 1. Days and times will vary. The regular season usually ends late February.

• Games: Exact schedule TBD

• Fee: TBD (Last year was $130 plus uniform)

Boys in 7th and 8th-grade may try out for the CMS Junior High Basketball teams.  These teams are not part of CYB.  They are part of the PIAA Interscholastic program.  Please contact the Cocalico School District Athletic Department for more information.

If your son is planning to try out for the school team; is not sure if he will make it; and he still wants to play basketball this year: please complete the registration for Youth Basketball before November 15. We will save a space for any player who is trying out for the school team in the event they do not make it.  We need to close our registration early to make sure we have enough time to get our team shirts ordered and printed.  In the end, we would rather have a few extra shirts than not have one in the correct size for a player who needs it.
