At practices, team coaches will assist with group drills and lead their individual teams during team drills. Coaches will also assist with setting up the gym for practices and putting away equipment at the end of practice.
During games, the primary responsibility of team coaches is to manage equal playing time, encourage good sportsmanship, and explain any questions that the players have. Coaches will assist in the game setup and cleanup duties.
Coach Code of Conduct
Coaches will lead by example and will be positive role models by displaying good sportsmanship at all times.
Coaches will teach players the rules of the game and will see that those rules are followed.
Coaches will honor the game by conducting every game within the rules.
Coaches will not harass or otherwise interfere with a referee’s ability to officiate a game.
Coaches will not verbally abuse any player at any time, whether from their own team or from the opposition.
Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
Parents/Guardians will promote, encourage, and exhibit good sportsmanship at all times.
Parents/Guardians will be positive role models and will lead by example in actions and words.
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to cheer on the players. However, all cheering must be positive in nature and content.
Parents/Guardians must let the coaches “do the coaching”. Parents/Guardians will refrain from giving their child advice while he is practicing or playing.
Parents/Guardians will not harass or otherwise interfere with the referee’s ability to officiate or to maintain control of a game.
Parents/Guardians are not allowed to harass or otherwise verbally abuse any player, coach, referee or another spectator.
Parents/Guardians may not physically confront any player, coach, referee, parent, or another spectator at any time. This includes following a game’s conclusion.
Any parent who violates these standards could be banned from all Cocalico Youth Basketball functions.
Player Code of Conduct
Players will listen to and follow the coaches instructions at all times.
Players will respect their teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, parents, spectators, and themselves.
Players will follow the rules of basketball during all practices and games ... cheating will not be tolerated.
Players may not use foul language (cursing) on the court, at any time.
Players may not verbally harass any other individual or team at any time (this includes taunting, hazing, bullying, name-calling, and making threatening remarks).
Players will respect the decisions of the referee, and will not argue with referee calls. All referee judgments are final.
Players may not physically confront any other player, coach, referee, parent, or spectator at any time. This includes following a game’s conclusion.
