Coal

The pages on the Coal Education Site contain resources for teachers, students, and families to explore and learn more about coal as an energy source. Discover the benefits and drawbacks of the resource, renewable forms of energy, and ways you can conserve energy at home. View some of our Kentucky Energy for Youth student projects from this year, as well.

Please take time at the end of your exploration of the site and fill out the form about what you've learned while visiting.

Coal is a fossil fuel that is used to generate electricity. It is used widely throughout the world and is a relatively cheap and abundant resource. Coal has been used throughout history to power many industries. Coal is a nonrenewable resource, which means there is a limited supply. Using coal for energy creates air and water pollution. Technologies have been created to minimize some of these environmental issues.

Complete these activities to learn more about coal and other energy sources.
