Organizing this big "get out the vote" effort are a bunch of Coach Darrell General's GREATEST FANS whose lives he has impacted in enormous ways. We are years and years of high school teams of student athletes. We're the kids he helped get college scholarships and who he took to "personal bests" and competitions at local, state and national level. We're his admiring colleagues and members of the health care community who have partnered with him for healthy athletes. We're fans who watched him win the Marine Corps Marathon twice and return to run it again in his 50's! We're his loving church community in DC. We're the non-profit organizations receiving the community involvement he inspired. We're crazily grateful moms and dads in Northern Virginia who have drawn together in friendship as we watched Coach stand by our kids through thick and thin --and adolescence, ahem-- as a phenomenal role model.

This particular effort to give Coach the spotlight, our thanks, and hopefully a $25,000 prize has come about on the initiative of one of his student athletes. Ashley nominated Coach G for FloTrack's and Quicken Loans' HOMETOWN HEROES competition because Coach stood by her in a health crisis and wouldn't let her quit.
