Who is Coach Bird?

My name is Mike. I have been executive coaching for 15 years, during which I have delivered over 300 hours of formal one to one coaching. I am proud to be a full member of the Association for Coaching. I am also skilled in group coaching, and an experienced trainer and presenter.

I have been a people leader/manager for 18 years and also mentored many colleagues. I am also a chartered fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

What does EXECUTIVE coaching mean to Coach Bird?

Executive coaching is a process to support and empower people to work towards their goals. Unlike mentoring, it does not require coach expertise of the coachee’s work area. It is mostly forward looking rather than addressing and dealing with events that have already happened (for example - counselling).

I will be clear with clients if I think their goal/challenge would be better supported by another approach. (I am also a mentor, but I separate out mentoring and coaching sessions.)

What EXECUTIVE coaching techniques does Coach Bird use?

In addition to primarily using a ‘person centred’ executive coaching approach, I also use both cognitive and behavioural techniques.

Most of my executive coaching is on a one-to-one basis, ranging from short, medium and long term goals of coachees. I also deliver coaching to teams and groups.
