Course Description:
In the interest of enhancing physical fitness and athletic skills, this course will develop student interest in sports, activities, fitness, and games that fit the “Lifetime Sports Model.” This model is centered around activities that are able to be enjoyed throughout life. Basic mot Field Trips This class is also a “Field Trip” based class. This means that we take multiple field trips each semester. We are fortunate to be able to work with different organizations and entities around the city and county that allow us to utilize instruction and put it to practical application.
Field Trips:
Field trips are a privilege afforded to this class and the students. Field trips are an extension of the classroom and school. Therefore, we reserve the right to prohibit any student from attending any field trip and or students could lose the privilege to go on a field trip due to any number of infractions of classroom policies and the policies described in the Cibola Student Handbook.
*In order to participate in field trips a student cannot be failing the class less than 60%
*Have no major disciplinary issues/concerns. It is up to the teacher/administration to determine whether or not a student with more than one behavior referral may participate on a field trip.
*Satisfactory attendance determined by the teacher and or administration (this includes excessive tardies and or leaving class without permission)
*Students who do not meet these requirements may be denied the opportunity to participate in field trips throughout the year.
Field Trips do not excuse you from work in your other classes. If a field trip is scheduled on the same day as an important test or important information being covered in another class students should remain on campus to fulfill their other academic responsibilities. It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with us as well as their other teachers for these types of circumstances in order for the student to be successful. In short, you may have to miss a field trip in order to make sure that you do not miss work or assignments for another class.
Dress:
While students will not be asked to dress out they are required to wear clothing appropriate for the unit we are currently studying. In general, always some closed toed shoes or a good pair of sneakers and casual dress will suffice. We will however ask students to dress appropriately for our field trips to Desert Greens golf course (Dress code for Golf Courses), Hiking (Weather determined), etc.
Lab Fee:
During the course of the school year we plan on taking up to four (or more) field trips. The lab fee of $15.00 for the year and we will collect money for field trips throughout the year as well, the lab fee will help cover the cost of trips and equipment needed throughout the year. We have worked closely with several local businesses to ensure we have gotten the best possible deals and minimize the requested lab fees.
Class Expectations and Requirements:
1. Students must be in class prior to the tardy bell.
2. Cell phones are not permitted most of the time in the class, however during certain units and during certain activities we utilize cell phones as a resource for act ivies as well as research tools.
3. The class moves around a lot and there are times where we ask students to bring all their belongings along with them while other times we will return to the classroom. A student is always welcome to have their belongings with them at all times. We do make sure that we secure any doors or rooms when we leave in order to keep personal belongings safe. However, we will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen items when protocols are not followed or if students decide to continue to keep their belongings on their person.
