The highly anticipated Liberal's Week of Welcome kicked off the academic year at Cebu Normal University (CNU) with a burst of energy and enthusiasm.
Monday dawned with a flurry of events, each adding its own unique sparkle to the day. Booths sprang to life, they revealed a treasure trove of fascinating displays and offerings. Freshmen, walking with a sense of pride and a warm welcome, set the tone for an inclusive and embracing environment for the Walk to Remember. Amidst all this, the thrill of raffle draws added an element of luck and excitement. The highlight, perhaps, was the K-Pop/TikTok Random Dance Challenge, infusing the day with dynamic moves and fun vibes. Adding a touch of whimsy to the festivities, the CAS Dinosaur, took center stage. Its appearance captivated the audience, eliciting awe and delight. An online CAS Quiz and a cozy Movie Night rounded off the day's excitement.
Tuesday wasn’t any less vibrant, it was about acquainting oneself with the CNU landscape. A CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) Orientation shed light on the academic structure, while another orientation focused on the diverse array of clubs and organizations. The day also offered a chance to capture timeless moments with a Free Class Photo Booth and spread cheer with an Online Shoutout. Once again, a Movie Night was the perfect way to wind down and relax.
Wednesday took a social media turn with Instagram Story Prompts, inviting everyone to share their WOW experiences. The day also showcased an array of talents during the Talents’ Day, a platform where students showcased their diverse skills, talents, and passions.
Thursday switched gears from pure academia to holistic growth, hosting the Liberals’ Week of Welcome Seminar titled "Beyond Academics: Empowering Minds, Bodies, and Finances." This seminar aimed to enlighten students about broader aspects beyond the textbooks, focusing on personal growth, physical well-being, and financial literacy.
Finally, Friday, the culmination of an eventful week, was about celebrating achievement. It was a day to recognize and applaud the winners who excelled in various events throughout the week. What made it even more special was that this recognition ceremony was hosted online, embracing the digital age.
The campus transformed into a bustling hub of activity with numerous booths and food stalls scattered strategically. Students explored these vibrant setups, discovering opportunities to meet new faces, learn about the school history, and indulge in delectable treats. The diverse array of offerings reflected the richness of campus life and the myriad interests of the student community.

CASskwela is a master class addressing three vital aspects of life: adulting, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Navigators are destined to traverse these stages, particularly adulting, an inevitability given the unstoppable passage of time. In the face of life's challenges, these essential elements serve as guides for navigating one's journey.
The CASskwela session 1 held on October 27, 2023, at the ACAS Auditorium welcomed navigators to the realms of Adultsville. Hon. Jerissa Mahinay, one of the chairpersons, delivered the welcome remarks. The session continued with guidance from speaker Ms. Aiphrelle Uy and guest speaker Ms. Alem Garcia, enlightening navigators about the nuances of adulting—a stage that can be simultaneously daunting and life-changing. The shared insights from the esteemed speakers transformed the navigators' perspective on adulting.
Ms. Uy provided valuable tips for job interviews, equipping navigators for an imminent challenge. Ms. Garcia approached the topic from a different angle, presenting 8 reminders about adulting. She emphasized the significance of choosing what aligns with individual growth. Session 1 concluded with remarks from Ms. April Mae Catipay, one of the Casskwela co-chairpersons.
The journey didn't conclude; as on November 24, 2023, at Tandang Sora, the navigators were warmly greeted by CASskwela Session 2. They revisited lessons, delving deeper into the realms of Adultsville.
In the illustrious discourse of Session 2 at CASskwela, the distinguished orator, Ms. Trisha Marie Suyo, a certified financial advisor of great repute, generously imparted her profound insights and methodologies for financial growth and adept expense management. Her sagacious guidance resonated profoundly with our esteemed navigators, positioning Ms. Suyo as the celestial beacon illuminating their path in this dynamic realm. Adding to the enlightenment, the esteemed Hon. Denise Stacy Banico, a luminary in her own right, expounded upon the intricacies of financial wisdom. With an emphasis on the indispensable role of effective financing, she bestowed invaluable knowledge upon our navigators, equipping them to ascend to the summit of Adultsville effortlessly. Thus, the transformative impact of Session 2 was palpable, ensuring that our navigators are well-prepared for the challenges ahead in their financial journey within the hallowed halls of CASskwela.

On November 27th, 2023, from 1 PM to 6:00 PM, the CTE Grounds at the university transformed into a hub of learning and preparedness as it hosts a comprehensive training program focused on first aid and basic life support for the Liberals.
The event officially commences with opening preliminaries at exactly 1:00 PM, including an opening prayer, the national anthem, and the university hymn, setting the stage for a day of learning and camaraderie. Hon. De Gracia, the event chairperson, delivered the opening remarks, welcoming the eager participants. An icebreaker followed, injecting a dose of fun into the serious agenda. The spotlight then turned to Mr. Sherwin Noval, the host who introduced the main speaker and instructor, Mr. Rainier Karl Baltar, an expert in Emergency Medical Response (EMR).
The session proper, a comprehensive lecture on First Aid essentials then unfolds. Mr. Baltar guided the participants through the intricacies of basic life support, instilling in them the knowledge and skills needed to respond to emergencies effectively. The morning session concluded with an open forum, providing an opportunity for participants to engage with the speaker and clarify any doubts.
Subsequently, participants actively engaged in a makeshift obstacle course, applying the acquired knowledge in simulated emergency scenarios. Notably, some CLASS Officers volunteered as victims or injured persons, enhancing the authenticity of the exercise. Participants were evaluated and rewarded based on the accurate and efficient execution of first aid procedures, including CPR, proper carrying techniques, and adept application of bandages.
The session concluded with the distribution of snacks, the presentation of certificates, and tokens of appreciation, celebration the participants' dedication and achievements. Hon. Agus delivered the closing remarks, acknowledging the efforts of all involved and emphasizing the importance of the newly acquired skills. A photo opportunity followed, capturing the smiles and camaraderie forged during this transformative day.
The CASsanga initiative demonstrated its efficacy in merging theoretical insights with hands-on applications, setting a robust precedent for future endeavors in community safety and emergency preparedness.

The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as the Idea and Knowledge Center (IKC) transformed into an enchanting spectacle on the evening of November 17, 2023. The prestigious Mister and Miss CAS 2023 (MMCAS) pageant, an event that promised an unforgettable night of grace, talent, and celebration has unfolded.
The event galvanized the 22 candidates, each representing the diverse organizations of the College of Arts and Sciences, with their grand production number. The candidates, bedecked in a dazzling array of glamor, showcased their unity and spirit through synchronized dance routines, leaving the audience in awe. As the stage was set aglow the National Costume segment followed. Each candidate enthusiastically wore costumes that reflected the vast tapestry of cultural diversity. The National Costume portion showcased traditional garments demonstrating the worldwide viewpoint of the College of Arts and Sciences. The highlight of the evening, undoubtedly, was the Evening Gown and Formal Wear segment. The stage transformed into a runway for opulence and class as the candidates strutted in their beautifully picked gowns and suits.
As the night progressed, the competition intensified, as the Top 6 finalists arose from the pool of brilliant male and female candidates and proceeded to the Q&A portion. Male candidates from the Tourism Society (TourS), Polikratos, Normalite Marketing Communicators' Association (NMCA), I-Mind Psychology Society, Bachelor of Public Administration Students’ Organization (BAPASO), and Junior Broadcasters' Alliance (JBA) secured their spots.
Meanwhile, female candidates from Junior Broadcasters' Alliance (JBA), Elite and Drama Society, Media Information and Literacy Education Students: The Online Normalite Expedition (MILESTONE), Polikratos, Bachelor of Public Administration Students’ Organization (BAPASO), and the Tourism Society (TourS) remained in the competition. The Q&A portion with the finalists gave an extra dimension of brilliance and wit to the event, highlighting their intellectual prowess as the candidates eloquently expressed their thoughts on various social issues and shared their visions for a better future.
After a night filled with revelry and dazzling class, the crowning moment arrived, revealing the winners of the Mister and Miss College and Arts of Sciences 2023. Tourism Society’s (TourS) Stephan Lee Jaime Salomon and Junior Broadcasters’ Alliance’s (JBA) Princess Elna Fernandez triumphed as this year’s Mister and Miss College of Arts and Sciences 2023 winners.
Accordingly, the first runners-up come from Normalite Marketing Communicators’ Association’s (NMCA) Kenneth Gene Padilla and Polikratos’ Jaylymae Suzette Coreal. Consecutively, the second runners-up come from Junior Broadcasters’ Alliance’s (JBA) Kyle Sacolingan and Media Information and Literacy Education Students: The Online Normalite Expedition’s (MILESTONE) Melody Jane Infante.
The Mister and Miss CAS 2023 became evident that this pageant was more than simply a competition; it was a celebration of talent, diversity, and the pursuit of success in the academic community. As the evening concluded, the pageant exemplified the college's energy and refinement. The evening highlighted not just the candidates, but also the spirit of solidarity and innovation that exists among the academic community.
