BY TRAIN
It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Kanpur Central railway station to IIT Kanpur. Taxies and three wheelers from the station can be hired from exit gate towards Platform No. 1. The fare from Railway Station to IIT Campus is around Rs. 400/- for taxi and Rs. 250/- for three-wheelers. Alternatively, you can also take a shared auto from BARA CHAURHA (can be reached by taking a cycle rickshaw from the railway station).
If you are taking a taxi or auto from Railway station/ bus stand, make sure it will go inside IIT campus. The Visitor's hostel and students hostels are located about 1.5 - 2 Kms from IIT main gate.
BY ROAD
Central Bus stand/ Jhakarkatti bus stand is located close to the Kanpur central railway station hence the taxi/auto rickshaw fares are nearly the same as those from the Railway Station.
If you are taking a taxi or auto from Railway station/ bus stand, make sure it will go inside IIT campus. The Visitor's hostel and students hostels are located about 1.5 - 2 Kms from IIT main gate.
BY AIR
Participants coming to Kanpur by air can arrive at Lucknow airport (~90 kms from IITK). The airport at Lucknow is well conected to all the major cities in india. It is served by all major airlines including Air India. From Lucknow one can take a prepaid taxi or Uber/OLA cab to IIT Kanpur. One way fare for Uber/OLA cab is approximately Rs 1500/-.
Alternatively one can also take a flight to Kanpur airport (Chakeri) which has daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata served by SpiceJet airlines.
For booking Uber/OLA cab at Lucknow airport use the Uber/OLA App.
Alternatively one can also take a pre-paid taxi from the counter situated inside the arrival terminal.
