Nacole Cabrol is originally from a small town in Ohio just outside Cleveland. She graduated from Kent State University in 2005 with a BA in Secondary Education and a minor in social studies. She has taught various courses in high school social studies for the past 13 years. Nacole started her career in education in Gaston County. Moved to Baltimore MD where she taught at a boarding school for at risk children. Then in 2012 moved back to the Charlotte area where she joined CMS educators. She has an active 10-year son named Landen who keeps her busy most days. She loves to travel, bike ride, read, and refurbish furniture in her spare time. You will catch her most Sundays relaxing, cooking, and watching football.

Tammy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Valdosta State University. She has been teaching for 33 years and has a passion for differentiating instruction to meet the individual needs of the students she supports.

Mrs. Gorniak has been teaching for over twenty years. She originally started her career in the Michigan/Ohio area (go Buckeyes) before moving to Charlotte eight years ago. Mrs. Gorniak graduated from the University of Toledo with an elementary/middle school degree and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Spring Arbor University. Mrs. Gorniak is an avid animal lover who loves to take her dog Cooper for daily walks. She has been married for 25 years and has two daughters that attend Appalachian State University.
Tammie Holt is the Manager of Hospital & Homebound Instruction for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. In prior roles, Tammie has worked in multiple schools in the district, as well as in Florida. In these roles, Tammie has provided professional development and coaching to school staff, worked to improve instruction and student achievement, and advocated for equity in the schools she serves.
Tammie’s professional background includes teaching experience in elementary general education, English as a Second Language, and Exceptional Children classrooms, as well as administrative roles in the secondary setting. Her teaching career began in Miami-Dade County schools in 2002; this is also where she attended school as a child and became bilingual. Tammie has also worked in the post-secondary setting, and she founded a parental advocacy non-profit organization in 2012.

Peter is originally from Sarasota Florida and graduated from Eckerd College with a BA in Environmental Science. He has taught high school and middle school Science in CMS for 12 years. Before that he worked in the education department at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. Peter lives in Charlotte with his wife Ashley and their daughter. His passion is science and loves sharing that with his students.

A CMS graduate and Charlotte native, Jennifer Jackson has been teaching in North Carolina public schools for over 20 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her Master of Education from Appalachian State University. Mrs. Jackson strives to provide a positive learning environment for all students where curriculum is presented in a variety of learning styles to foster independent investigation, academic growth, social tolerance, and civic responsibility. Mrs. Jackson's secondary teaching certification in both English and History. She has three children and loves to read, swim, travel and spend time with family.

Greetings! My name is Erica Jacobs and I’ve been teaching since 1999. I’ve coached sports and taught various grades and subjects throughout my tenure. I’ve been a member of the wonderful homebound team since 2015. I’m from the chilly state of Ohio. I have a son, daughter, and two wonderful granddaughters! We are foodies, movie buffs, and we love fun, water related activities!

Rachael is originally from Upstate New York and graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2006 with a BA in Mathematics. She has taught high school and middle school Math in CMS for 10 years and spent 4 years in Accountability as a Testing Analyst. Rachael lives in Huntersville with her husband Doug and two girls Riley (5) and Claire (3).

My name is Mallie Burton, and I am excited to be the Hospital Social Worker/Liaison with the Hospital/Homebound Department. I’m from Greensboro, NC, where I graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. I have a Master of Social Work Degree from the Joint Master of Social Work Program between North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My career in School Social Work started over twenty years ago in Guilford County Schools, as a School Social Worker, and continued here in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. I also have experience working as an Adjunct Professor at several Colleges and Universities, hospital and nursing homes, being a mentor to new School Social Workers and serving on many National and local Boards. I have a passion to serve students, with the goal of helping to eliminate any barriers to receiving an education. I believe that every student deserves the best and it is my goal to do everything to ensure educational success. I partner with the Homebound department, Atrium/Levine and Novant/Hemby Children’s hospitals to serve families. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Maritza Ortiz has been an educator for over 20 years. She taught Spanish at the K-5 level for ten years, three years in middle school and four years at the high school level. She has been teaching K-12 homebound students since October of 2015 in all subjects. Maritza has a passion for teaching and advocates for her students and parents. You will see her volunteering in the community at the homeless shelter and tutoring the marginalized and oppressed. She enjoys walking, dancing, playing backgammon and canasta.

Kyle Polk has been an educator in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools since 2003. She is a proud wife and a mother of two girls. Mrs. Polk is an active alumna of University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Setting Goals, making a plan and developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally. When she isn’t working, you’ll find Mrs. Polk exercising and traveling the world.

Dana Roberts grew up in Allen Park, Michigan, where she earned her BS degree in Education (math/science) & an Early Childhood Specialist certification from Western Michigan University. Her 20+ years teaching in public schools have taken her from Michigan, to Oregon and finally North Carolina. You can often find Dana on a hiking trail with her daughters, knee deep in her favorite podcasts or supporting local non-profits.

Joan Roberts is married to her husband, Geoff, and they have two children. Joan has been teaching with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for over ten years and she has a passion for teaching students with special needs. Pam Tyree has over 25 years of classroom teaching and leadership experience. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science Degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Mrs. Tyree has enjoyed teaching many grades through the years, including grades 3-8. She has also worked with state accreditation agencies to ensure optimal school improvement in our area classrooms. Megan Wood recently moved back to Charlotte after teaching in Nashville, TN for almost 4 years. She is excited to be working in the school district that she went to high school in and be close to family again. Megan graduated from UNCG with a bachelor's degree in special education and two minors in Human Development and Sociology. Megan loves to travel, camp/hike, and spend time with family and friends. She is an avid animal lover and has several fur babies of her own. Megan is happy to be a part of the homebound team and is looking forward to getting to know her students and their families!
