CMMSSP 2026

CMMSSP is a Two-Day National Level Conference on Condensed Matter, Materials Science, and Statistical Physics organized by the Department of Physics, Presidency University, Kolkata, India. It serves as a platform for discussions on emerging research topics like Complex Systems, Active Matter, Non-linear Dynamics, Biological Systems, and other interdisciplinary subjects. Experienced and budding scientists convene to exchange ideas, fostering advancements in the field.  

Presidency University, established in 1817 as Hindoo College and granted university status in 2010, is one of India and Asia’s oldest institutions, with a rich legacy of academic excellence and innovation.

The Physics department has a distinguished history of pioneering research. In the late 19th century, Professor Jagadish Chandra Bose conducted groundbreaking experiments on microwaves, while later scholars such as Satyendra Nath Bose, Meghnad Saha, Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, and Sisir Kumar Mitra gained international recognition for their contributions to physics.

In the 20th century, Amal Kumar Raychaudhuri’s seminal work in General Relativity further enhanced the department’s global reputation, alongside the achievements of eminent physicists such as Bikash Sinha, Ashoke Sen, and Sabyasachi Bhattacharya.
