About Me!
Hi! My name is Christina Meehan '23, and I'm a huge foodie! Cooking/baking has been a part of my life for a while now. Before this semester, I've run my own decorated sugar cookie and cake instagram (@cookiedbyc) account for over 5 years now. I've had the opportunity to fulfil many orders and make so many people happy when they see (and taste!) my work. My favorite part of this hobby is the creative aspect of designing and decorating these edible works of art.
I always enjoy sampling my sugar cookie or signature moist vanilla cakes when they come out of the oven, but one day it occurred to me how much sugar was in these desserts and how bad it made me feel after eating them. I still continue to make my classic recipes for orders due to their popularity, but I've also found joy in testing out healthier substitutes on my own (for example my birthday cake pictured left!!).
In Food Lit this semester, I am excited to experiment with clean-ingredient recipes in the kitchen to create a variety of foods that not only taste good -- but make you feel good too! Already, some of my favorite clean-eating ingredients are zucchini, chickpeas, maple syrup or peanut butter. I am excited to push myself to try out more things and go out of my comfort zone to make amazing food!
