A seal is a symbol for which the institution stands for. Thus, the seal of the Cotabato Medical Foundation College, Inc. contains the following: an open book, a lamp, and a caduceus which are backgrounded by the sun with its rays shining through. These are enclosed in a circle.
The open book represents the foundation of knowledge which is laid down to all students who seek admission to this institution. The caduceus symbolizes the cure for illness. The lamp represents the light to illumine one in his/her search for knowledge, in the internalization of faith and wisdom so that all those who pass through the portals of this institution will go out to the world with faith, personal discipline, and service characterized by integrity, competence and social responsibility. The sun rays represent the original fifteen (15) stakeholders of the Cotabato Medical Foundation College, Inc.
With utmost dynamism and enthusiasm, in 1990, selected medical practitioners as well as the incorporators of the Holy Child Medical City, Inc. conceived the idea of organizing an educational institution in the development of the progressive town of Midsayap in the Province of Cotabato. It is their optimum goal of helping raise the academic standards of the private institutions of learning in the community. By virtue of a resolution passed by the Board of Directors of the said institution, the Cotabato Medical Foundation College, Inc. was born. They are set to offer a course which has not yet been offered by any existing tertiary institutions in the area of the Cotabato Province and that course is leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
On January 03, 1991, in the Articles of Incorporation of the Cotabato Medical Foundation College, Inc. this academic institution was duly registered with Securities and Exchange Commission. However, it was on April 20, 1993 when academic institution was authorized by the DECSRO XII under the temporary permit No. 0017 s. 1993 to operate the nursing course Level I-II for school year 1993-1994. On June 07, 1993, the course was officially opened with an initial enrolment of fifty-two (52) students and only seventeen (17) graduated during the First Commencement Exercises on March, 1997. With these only thirteen (13) out of fifteen (15) graduates who successfully passed the Nursing Licensure Examination. On September 18, 1996, the CMFCI was granted by CHEDRO XII recognition Permit # 0036.
The Diploma in Midwifery Course was also applied. It was granted permission to operate in 1996 with DECSRO XII having the Permit No. 036. There were ten (10) first batch of graduates and all of them passed the licensure examination for midwives. With the passing years, there was a stoppage in its operation for more than ten (10) years because of some circumstances. Its operation was resumed in 2008 bearing the Permit No. 002. With the expansion of the curricular programs, the school was able to apply the Business Administration Course. The Temporary Permit No. 044 s. 2010 was given to start the course for Year I. And the succeeding years the course was granted for its Year II and Year III operation and eventually in March, 2013 the government recognition was granted. In March, 2012 two more programs were given temporary permit for its Year I operation. These courses are the Guidance Counseling (now known in its new nomenclature as Human Services) and Public Administration. In March, 2013 the Year II temporary permit was issued and the following year in May 2014, Year III temporary permit was granted to continue in its operation. In 2015, the PA was granted government recognition No. 30 Series of 2015 and the Guidance and Counseling was granted government recognition No. 40 Series 2015. In order that the school would also be able to cope with the trends in the academic world, the institution has ventured to integrate short-term courses under the TESDA program. The following courses are offered: Health Care Services NC II and Food and Beverage Services NCII.
As to the leadership of the school, several have already taken cudgel to man the operation of the school. The first College President was Dr. Imelda Soriano who was followed by Dr. Romeo Reyes. The third President was Dr. Arturo C. Sobong. With his retirement in August, 2010, the Board of Trustees placed Dr. Leopoldo P. Lugtu as Chief Executive Officer and College President until this present.
