James Monroe High School, LAUSD
Ryan Gonzales teaches band and orchestra at James Monroe High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District where he conducts two concert bands, three orchestras, jazz band, and marching band. During his time at James Monroe High School, the music department has grown from 12 students to over 350 and has received numerous awards and grants. These accomplishments led Gonzales to become a Quarter Finalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award in 2021. Additionally, he serves as Guest Conductor for California State University Northridge with the CSUN Wind Symphony and Wind Ensembles and serves as a clinician for middle school and high school concert bands throughout Southern California. Gonzales earned his Bachelor of Music in Euphonium Performance and his Master of Arts degree in Instrumental Band Conducting from California State University, Northridge.
