Williams, K. T. (2007). Expressive Vocabulary Test, Second Edition (EVT-2)
What is the EVT-3?
The EVT-3 is a norm-referenced, individually administered test that assesses expressive language and word retrieval abilities in children and adults (ages 2;6-90+).
Administration:
When conducting the EVT-3, the examiner reads directly from the scoring sheet, and the client is presented with stimuli on the provided picture easel. To continue testing, a basal of 3 consecutive correct scores much be reached. Testing stops when all questions are answered or a ceiling of 6 consecutive incorrect responses are obtained.
Strengths:
The biggest strength of the EVT-3 is that it has a very brief administration time of 10-15 minutes, which creates more opportunities for larger populations to be screened. The short testing time also ensures that children or adults do not get too fatigued from testing.
Weaknesses:
One weakness of the assessment is that while it was normed on a diverse population the test stimuli could be more inclusive and representative of minority groups in order to better reflect the populations it has the capacity to assess.
