Bill Bourassa has been coaching for many years and brings two years of dedicated volleyball coaching experience to our program. He is certified as both a Head Coach and Setting Coach through The Art of Coaching. Bill values the impact sports have on the development of young female athletes and is committed to helping players build skills and confidence throughout the season. Outside of coaching, he enjoys spending time with his daughters — who are also part of our program — and cheering them on both on and off the court.
Meet Gabi Bolwerk, a first time coach but long-time volleyball lover! Gabi is a Soil Health Educator with University of Minnesota Extension, working with farmers across the state on healthy soil management.
In her free time she loves playing volleyball and board games, doing stained glass, cuddling her dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
Gabi is so excited to coach this year! She can’t wait to get to know the girls on her team and help them to be their best selves as players and teammates.
Welcoming Megan Troy, new to coaching but familiar with the volleyball world. Megan has been playing volleyball since age 11 and her love for the game has only grown.
Megan is an adolescent psychiatric nurse with Essentia health. She’s a mental health advocate and strives for children to feel safe & heard.
Her pastimes include but aren’t limited to, spending time with her husband and kids, going on walks with her dogs, weight training, playing pickup volleyball around the area any chance she can, coffee dates, and reading.
Megan is eager to coach this year. She’s looking forward to helping lead a strong team oriented group of girls. One thing she mentions wanting to focus on is developing individual skill(s) that translate into the team setting.
Welcoming Emily Lehman! This will be her first year coaching with Club Hounds Volleyball. Emily is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota Duluth, pursuing a degree in Elementary and Special Education along with a coaching minor. She is originally from Southern Minnesota, where she played on her school’s volleyball team. Emily also grew up dancing and coached for the local Just For Kix programs throughout high school. Emily is very excited for this season, especially to get to know the players and families that make up the club. She is looking forward to not only helping players develop their skills but also their character, including cooperation and determination.
Welcoming Mikaela! My day job is the digital media team lead at Flint Group. I am very well versed in the world of Google. I have been a part of the Flint family for almost 20 years.
I spent my high school years playing club volleyball for Wisconsin Power out of Madison, WI. I went on to play Division I volleyball for Iona College (now Iona University) in New Rochelle, NY. I was lucky enough to make an NCAA tournament appearance in 2004. We fell to Nebraska in the first round, but it was an unbelievable experience! I was the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2004, falling to injury in 2005. I was the first inductee for the volleyball program into the Iona College goal club Hall of Fame in 2016.
After moving to Duluth in 2006, I coached at East End Volleyball Club and MN North for 5 years. During that time I also coached at Duluth East for 3 years. I went on to start my family in 2012 and am just now getting back into coaching as my daughter has started playing volleyball. I am excited to teach these girls more about the game I love so much. Middle blocker is my specialty. :)
Outside of volleyball, I love spending time with my family and friends. We spend a lot of time at the soccer field and at hockey rinks across the country.
Welcoming Kaitlyn Gewerth! Kaitlyn coached 6th grade volleyball for a few years in high school, and has continued to stay involved in the sports community. Kaitlyn sits on the board of Superior City FC, a pre-professional soccer team out of Superior. Kaitlyn also sits on the board of the Montgomery Sports Foundation, where we help eliminate financial barriers for children to be involved in sports.
Kaitlyn likes to spend her free time with her husband and dog, hiking, weight lifting, playing all sports and trying new sports, and rating spinach and artichoke dip at every restaurant.
Kaitlyn enjoys working with youth to build their confidence, team building skills, and embrace the overall camaraderie involved in sports. She can’t wait to see this season start and help facilitate growth in the players!
