Participate in officiating responsibilities.
Waiting for coach dismissal before leaving practices or tournaments.
Properly care for equipment and facilities, by:
Participating in setting up nets.
Storing equipment properly and neatly.
Keeping track of volleyballs and treating them with care (no kicking).
Respecting all practice & tournament facilities.
Respect their teammates by being reliable and supportive, by:
Attending all practices unless excused.
Arriving prepared to practice and play on time.
Using encouraging language.
Leaving coaching to the coaches.
Giving your best effort at practice.
Displaying acceptance of differences in background, personality, and values.
Respecting the personal belongings of teammates, coaches, and opponents.
Practice good decision-making skills to ensure they can participate in competitions, by:
Being on time, treating others with respect, and caring for equipment.
Not using substances such as alcohol, tobacco/vaping products, or other drugs.
Taking care of school, family, and other commitments.
Considering the impact of words and actions on others.
Receiving and applying feedback from coaches.
Accepting that mistakes are part of the learning process for ourselves, our teammates, and our coaches.
Failure to adhere to our Code could affect playing time, result in suspension, or possible removal from the program.
Respect for Athletes
Cheer for all players, promoting sportsmanship and encouragement.
Avoid coaching or directing players during the match. Celebrate effort and growth, not just competition.
Respect for Coaches, Officials, and Personnel
Show respect for coaches, referees, event directors, staff, and officials.
Our club does not tolerate yelling at officials (kids or adults). Keep cheering positive and supportive for all involved.
Positive and Supportive Behavior
Avoid critiquing or speaking negatively about other players. Support and encourage players and team as a whole.
Remind your athlete to clean up after themselves.
Promote positive communication between parents, athletes, coaches, and officials.
Support the need for athletes to fulfill their officiating duties at tournaments when necessary.
Help athletes to be on time for tournaments and practices and ensure they are picked up promptly afterward.
Zero Tolerance for Alcohol and Substance Use
Absolutely no alcohol or controlled substances are permitted at any volleyball club events or tournaments.
Any parent found under the influence of alcohol or other substances, or engaging in inappropriate behavior due to substance use, will be asked to leave immediately.
Supporting the Emotional and Physical Well-Being of Athletes
Promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes and prioritize the club’s image and their development over any personal desires for winning or playing time.
Help athletes make good decisions regarding substances, social media use, and healthy interactions with teammates.
Supporting Coaches and the Learning Process
Allow coaches to do their job without interference.
Accept that mistakes are part of the learning process for both athletes and coaches.
Do not confront coaches before, during, or after games or practices regarding concerns. Please follow the “24-Hour” rule—wait 24 hours before contacting a coach, except in emergencies.
Schedule time to speak with the coach calmly and privately when needed.
As a valued member of our volleyball community, we ask that all parents and spectators attending tournaments and events adhere to the following code of conduct. Your actions set an example for the athletes and contribute to creating a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone involved. See additional notes in below section "From the Board of Directors:".
Ensure a safe playing environment, by:
Protecting athletes from physical or emotional harm.
Monitoring equipment setup/take down
Making sure all players have been picked up after practices and tournaments
Refraining from physical contact except where necessary for the development of an athlete’s skill of athletic ability.
Scanning playing areas for potential hazards
Promptly responding to injuries
Strive for an exceptional learning experience, by:
Coming to practice prepared
Providing useful feedback to all players during practice
Aiming for fair playing time (this does not mean equal playing time)
Avoiding player critiques or other personal information with other players or parents
Seeking the latest coaching practices and taking into account principles of youth growth and development.
Being aware of the influence of a coach as an educator and modeling proper personal and social behavior.
Respecting the rights, dignity and worth of every person (athletes, parents, officials…)
Considering the impact of words and actions on others.
Make communication a priority, by:
Providing timely information regarding practice and tournament schedules.
Using a consistent, club-approved tool for effective communication.
Considering the impact of words and actions on others.
Any coach, board member, or club official has the right to ask a parent to leave an event or tournament for behavior they deem disruptive, disrespectful, or harmful to the well-being of the athletes, the team, or the club. This includes actions that negatively impact the club’s atmosphere or the experience of others attending the event.
Failure to adhere to this code of conduct will thoroughly be reviewed by the board of directors. Disciplinary action(s) may be taken at the board’s discretion and may include, but is not limited to, removal from participation in future events. Additionally, the board reserves the right to involve relevant governing parties for further review and action, if deemed necessary.
By attending tournaments and events, you are agreeing to abide by this code of conduct. Let’s work together to ensure a safe, fun, and enriching experience for all!
