We are chemists and engineers, an Interdisciplinary Research Group for Developing New Engineered Nanocomposites and Surfaces, Value Addition of Waste Materials, and Fabrication of Reactors for Environmental Pollutants Abatement, and Production of Renewable (e.g. Hydrogen, Biofuels) Energy for Sustainable Society and the Environment.

Dr. Thillai Sivakumar Natarajan is a Scientist and Assistant Professor (AcSIR) at CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI), Chennai.
Prior to starting his career at CSIR-CLRI, he was with the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF &CC), New Delhi, India as a Scientist B.
He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences and performed post-doctoral research work in South Korea, Taiwan, and Ireland. He has been a recipient of internationally well-known post-doctoral fellowships like JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship, Japan, Government of Ireland Post-doctoral Fellowship, Ireland, and Claude Leon Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowship, South Africa.
Dr. TS Natarajan's research focuses on the development of photoactive nanomaterials/nanocomposites, and surfaces (coating of nanomaterial) on different solid supports (glass and quartz surfaces, membranes etc.,) followed by designing various geometry of slurry and immobilized reactors. In addition, the value addition of solid wastes by the development of carbon (activated carbon, carbon quantum dots, biochar, etc.,) based nanocomposite materials, and recovery of valuables and bioenergy from wastes. The developed nanomaterials and reactors are used for water and air pollutants treatment/sensing, CO2 reduction, energy storage, and water splitting (Hydrogen production) applications.
Dr. Thillai Sivakumar Natarajan has featured in the list of “Top 2% scientists worldwide" in the 2022 and 2025 database, published by
Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier BV.

Mr. Mithilesh, received the best oral presentation award for his research on "H2 production by water splitting" in the 2nd International Conference on “Chemistry for Sustainability-II (ICCS-II-2024)” held at the Department of Chemistry (SF) ,PSG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore Tamil Nadu, India on 09-07-2024.

Dr. Thillai Sivakumar Natarajan has participated in the conference on Nanotechnology Through Time: Bridging Ancient India to Modern Innovations from July 15-16 2024 at Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University (MCBU), Chhatarpur, MP, India. He has delivered an invited talk on "Sustainable Water Treatment Techniques: From Ancient Techniques to Modern Innovations".
The invited talk was highlighted in the newspapers like "Dainik Bhaskar (Chhatarpur and Sagar), Patrika, Raj ki Duniya, Raj Express, Nai Duniya" and "DD News" Madhya Pradesh.
