As one of the current grad students in Dr. Angela Rowe's research group, my current research interests are in tropical storm initiation/organization, tropical deep convection, and radar applications (although, if you want to chat about clouds I am always down- clouds are legitimately the coolest things in the universe). The tropics are a crucial part of the atmosphere and act to globally distribute energy and mass, so it’s important that we better understand the processes that occur within them. Additionally, a large portion of the human population resides within the tropics and by improving our understanding of the tropical atmosphere, we also improve the manner in which these people can plan and prepare for severe weather.

As for my lore, I’m from northern Virginia (the Appalachian side, not the DC side) and I got my undergrad degree in physics and environmental science from the University of Virginia (wahoowa!). While Madison is a neat city, I deeply miss the mountains and sweet tea. I’m terrible at picking just one hobby and as a result my free time is filled with an assortment of reading, writing, drawing, painting, knitting, baking, playing Legend of Zelda . . . (this list goes on for a while).
