Welcome to Cloud Learning
"Cloud computing has become an integral part of K-12 education, enabling teachers and students to access educational resources and tools in new and innovative ways. This technology has revolutionized the way students learn, and the way teachers teach, resulting in a more engaging, personalized and effective learning environment" (Itopia, 2023, para.1).
Cloud learning has been well established in education for more than a decade and continues to be a vehicle for addressing critical challenges faced by traditional educational systems. The advancements of artificial intelligence presents another opportunity for cloud learning to position itself as a highly viable market.
This OER aims to offer an introduction to cloud learning and explore thoughts, concepts and ventures being considered in the K-12 market, including the impact of the cloud on AI innovation of intelligent tutors.
About the authors
Originally from Victoria, BC, Maurice currently resides in Hong Kong. He teaches French as a Second Language to senior school students at the Canadian International School in Hong Kong. Having begun his teaching career in 2011, he is interested in keeping up with technological innovations connected to his field, is passionate about using technology in the classroom and has a keen interest in how cloud learning can continue to benefit his students as opposed to the more traditional approaches that he used at the start of his career.
Richard is a Learning Solutions Specialist based out of Burnaby, BC. Working as an adult educator in BC's healthcare system, he works in the supply chain area of healthcare in synchronous and asynchronous formats. Richard is passionate about equitable access to learning resources and has a keen interest in how cloud learning can be a vehicle for change moving forward.
