Removing the stigma surrounding women's health.
Although women account for half of the world's population, their health still lags far behind men's. Aiming to remove the stigma surrounding female bodies and bring awareness to this inequity, Closing the Gap holds meaningful conversations about women's health research, representation in medicine, and steps young people can take to make a difference.
The women’s health gap means women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health or with disabilities than men, resulting in a loss of 75 million years of life globally.
Contributors to this disparity include barriers to women's care and a default that relies on male biology, resulting in less understanding and treatment opportunities for women.
Conditions like endometriosis and PCOS, can take over 7 years to diagnose, especially since under 2% of private healthcare funding is dedicated to women-specific conditions.
Addressing this disparity presents a significant economic opportunity, with the potential to boost the global economy by at least $1 trillion annually by 2040.
