Sponsorship Program

Our annual Sponsorship Program provides us with the additional resources we need to maintain our level of service and add to our growing demand for services. We gratefully accept new Sponsors throughout the year. If you or your company would like to become a Sponsor of the Self Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines, please contact our Executive Director, Debbie Walusiak at 847-337-1443.

Sponsorship is established on an annual basis in order to create a recurring source of funds. We understand if you cannot participate every year or to always contribute at the same level. We greatly appreciate any contribution you make whenever you can make it.

Annual Sponsorship Levels

Sponsors receive recognition on our website and in our print newsletter.

Year-Round Donations

We are exceedingly grateful to the following donors who partner with the Pantry all year long:

  • Jewel-Osco - Lee St. and Elmhurst Rd. locations in Des Plaines

  • Panera Bread - So. Mannheim Rd in Des Plaines

  • Costco - Niles

Directly from the director. . . .

We're almost there. "Almost" as in a matter of weeks, hopefully. "There" as in our new home at 769 Holiday Lane, Des Plaines. At this moment, renovations on our spacious new building are finished. Once the adjoining parking lot is ready, we can move. Fingers crossed.

While we were hoping to announce a grand opening with this newsletter issue, the time still is right to acknowledge the many volunteers that have made our move possible. The sorters/organizers/packers on one end and the skilled tradesmen on the other end. Your time and talents are invaluable. Thank You. Thanks, also, to the community for your continued food and monetary support during these challenging times. Your notes and cards of encouragement have kept our volunteers going during the pandemic, and we are most grateful. We look forward to the next chapter in the history of the Self-Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines, and we sincerely hope you will make the move with us - in spirit, of course. Our new home is just up the road from our current home but a huge leap from the cramped, crowded space we outgrew a while back.

Please join us as we continue our mission to help our Des Plaines neighbors in need.

Debra Walusiak, Executive Director

Food Pantry solicitors on street corners ? — NOT US

Occasionally you will see people wearing FOOD PANTRY vests soliciting donations from drivers at Lee & Oakton and other busy intersections. The Self-Help Closet and Pantry of Des Plaines is NOT related to that group. The last such group was from the Joliet area. Our volunteers will never be standing on street corners soliciting donations.
