In 2024 & 2025, I-Te Lu was invited to give lectures at the hands-on schools of "ab initio quantum electrodynamics for quantum materials engineering." He has designed and delivered graduate-level courses and specialized lectures on first-principles methods, electron–phonon interactions, and Quantum Electrodynamical Density Functional Theory (QEDFT), with a focus on connecting theory to practical simulations and materials design.
His teaching approach was grounded in active learning principles. To cultivate engagement, he implemented specific, evidence-based techniques such as "Think-Pair-Share" activities that encourage peer-to-peer teaching, and "2-Minute Recall" exercises to solidify knowledge at the end of each lecture. To ensure long-term retention, each new lecture begins with a short retrieval-practice quiz. These approaches have earned positive feedback at the hands-on schools.
