Susanne Gaube and Harini Suresh (Ph.D. candidate at MIT and collaborator with our team) have been interviewed for an NHS report on AI in healthcare. This is one of two reports published by the Health Education England and the NHS AI Lab at the NHS Transformation Directorate. The report’s aim is to explore factors influencing healthcare workers’ confidence in AI-driven technologies and how their confidence can be developed through education and training. It is argued that confidence in AI used in healthcare can be increased by establishing its trustworthiness through the governance and robust implementation of these technologies. Gaube and Suresh were invited to share their experiences exploring how users are influenced by and interact with AI technology in clinical tasks. You can find their comments about users‘ susceptibility to AI advice and the impact of domain expertise mainly in the fifth chapter „Clinical Use“ in the NHS report.
