All across the world, Towers of Monsters suddenly appeared, tearing through the sky itself.
Inside these towers, countless monsters made their nests, and their shadows stretched toward nearby villages and cities.
People’s lives were threatened, and the world began to fall under the invasion of monsters.
This is one such tower.
A tower ruled by skeletal monsters known as Skeletons the Skull Tower.
The interior of the tower is narrow and twisted; at most, only two people can advance at the same time.
You must entrust your back to one another, believing that your partner will face the enemies approaching from outside your field of view.
At the top floor of the tower, a boss awaits.
Defeat the boss, and the tower will vanish, along with the threat it poses.
As the very first step in saving the world from the hands of monsters,
you must join forces and defeat the Skull Tower for the sake of the world!
This game is a two-player cooperative game.
The two players play cards from their hands and use the icons shown on the cards to take actions, such as climbing the tower or defeating Skeletons.
A card can only be played if it matches the color or number of the previously played card.
Players may communicate only while both are on the same floor.
If they become separated onto different floors, communication is no longer possible, making cooperation significantly more difficult.
By cooperating within a limited number of rounds, the players aim to defeat the BOSS waiting on the top floor of the tower, which is the victory condition.
・Play Cards: 24 cards
(Level 1 ×6, Level 2 ×12, Level 3 ×6)
・Tower Cards: 8 cards
(No.001–007, 1 Boss Card)
・Round Card: 1 card
・Player Pawns: 2 pieces
・Skeleton Tokens: 12 pieces
・Card List Sheet (A5): 1 sheet
・Summary Card (Front): 1 card
・Restriction Card (Back): 1 card
・Placing the Tower Cards
Remove the card labeled “BOSS” from the Tower Cards and shuffle the remaining cards.
Randomly select three cards from them and place them face up in a vertical line.
Then place the “BOSS” card on top, with its orientation (front or back) chosen at random (Fig. 1).
If this is your first time playing, arrange the cards from bottom to top in the following order:001 → 003 → 006 → BOSS (either side may be used).
・Confirming Skills
Both players check the skills written on the back of the placed Tower Cards together.
・Placing Tokens
Place Skeleton tokens on top of the Skeleton illustrations shown on the first (bottom) Tower Card.
Next, place the Player tokens on the lowest floor of the first Tower Card.
・About Floors
The tower is made up of levels called floors. Each Tower Card consists of five floors.Depending on how the cards are arranged, floors of the same color may connect vertically. In such cases, connected floors of the same color are treated as a single floor.
・Creating the Shared Deck
Prepare all cards labeled “Level 1”, then randomly remove two cards from the cards labeled “Level 2”.
Shuffle these cards together to form the Shared Deck (Fig. 2).
・Creating the Level Decks
Separate the remaining cards into “Level 2” and “Level 3”.Shuffle each group and place them face down as separate decks.
※Optional Rule※
This optional rule allows players to choose the desired difficulty level. Easy reduces randomness and enables more strategic play. Hard allows a certain degree of randomness and requires more flexible decision-making.
There are two colors of Level 2 cards: Red and Blue. Players may choose whether to use one combined deck or two separate decks.
Easy: Create two separate decks, one with Red cards and one with Blue cards.
Hard: Shuffle Red and Blue cards together to form a single deck.
・Card Reference Setup
This game places great importance on the icons shown on the cards.
The card reference sheet provides a complete list of all icons used in the game.
Place the Card List Sheet in a location where both players can easily see it.
・Preparing the Round Card
Place the Round Card with the “Round 1” side facing up.Place the Summary Card on top of it so that only “Round 1” is visible, covering Round 2 and later (Fig. 3).
With this setup, players can always check the current round number and the starting player.
Each round consists of the following three phases. They are resolved in order, as described below.
①Play Phase
②Card Building Phase
③Preparing for the Next Play Round Phase
Shuffle the Shared Deck and deal 3 cards to each player.
Place the remaining cards face down on the table as the draw pile (Fig. 4).
The turn begins with the starting player of the current round, as indicated on the Round Card.
On your turn, choose and perform one of the following three actions.
After performing one action, your turn ends and play passes to the other player.
A. Redraw a Card
Discard one card from your hand face up to the discard pile, then draw one card from the draw pile.
Each player may perform this action once per round. If there is no draw pile, this action cannot be performed.
B. Declare Intent to Exchange Cards
Place one card face down on the table. This indicates your intent to exchange cards.
When both players have placed a card this way, the exchange is completed, and each player adds the other player’s placed card to their hand.
This action may be performed only once per round.
Example:
Zaki places a card face down to indicate an intent to exchange and ends their turn.
It is now Shota’s turn, and Shota chooses A: Redraw a Card.
After several turns, Shota places a card face down. At that point, the exchange is completed, and Zaki and Shota exchange cards.
C. Play a Card
Play a card to the shared play area. The first card played may be any card.
From the second card onward, only a card that matches the color (illustration) or number of the card currently in the play area may be played.
Example:
If Zaki’s hand is “Purple 2, Red 3, Purple 4” and the play area contains “Purple 3,” Zaki may play any of those cards.
Zaki plays “Red 3.”
On the next turn, if Shota’s hand is “Purple 5, Purple 6, Purple 1,” none of those cards match the color or number of “Red 3,” so Shota cannot perform C: Play a Card.
After playing a card, resolve the effects on the Tower Cards according to the icons shown on the card.
[Sword Icon]
You may defeat a Skeleton on the same floor as your player token.
Take the defeated Skeleton token and treat it as 1 gold.
Gold obtained this way is used for actions such as purchasing cards at the end of the round.
Skeletons exist on both the left and right sides of the tower, but you may only defeat Skeletons on your assigned side.
(e.g., if you are responsible for the left side, you cannot defeat Skeletons on the right side.)
If there are two or more Skeletons on the same side of a single floor, and they are not all defeated within the same round, no Gold is gained.
In this case, at the start of the next round, the Skeletons respawn, returning to two Skeletons.
The same rule applies if there are three or more Skeletons.
Even if Skeletons are on the same floor, one on the left side of the tower and one on the right side are not counted as two Skeletons together.
They are treated as one Skeleton on each side, separately.
[Up Arrow Icon]
Climb the tower by the number of floors shown by the icon.
You may not combine two arrow icons to count as a single floor.
Since there are no floors above the BOSS floor, if movement would go beyond the BOSS, all movement stops on the BOSS floor.
You may climb the tower even if you have not defeated the Skeletons on that floor.
If, on your turn, you have cards in hand but cannot perform any action, the round ends immediately.
If you have no cards in hand and cannot perform any action on your turn, you must pass, and the turn goes to the other player.
Passing is not allowed in any other situation.
If both players play all cards from their hands, they gain a Clear-Hand Bonus and receive 1 additional gold by taking one Skeleton token from the supply.
The Play Phase ends when either of the following occurs:
→ Both players have played all cards from their hands
→ A player with cards in hand is unable to perform any action
The Card Building Phase is always conducted at the end of each Play Phase.
In this Phase, players may use the defeated Skeleton tokens (1 Skeleton = 1 gold) to perform the following actions in any order.
Pay 1 gold to draw one random card from the Level 2 deck and add it to the Shared Deck.
Pay 2 gold to draw one random card from the Level 3 deck and add it to the Shared Deck.
Pay 1 gold to look through all cards in the Shared Deck, choose one card, and remove it from the game.
Return the removed card to the box; it will not be used again during the game.
Any gold remaining at the end of the Card Building Phase cannot be carried over to the next round.
Gold should be treated as use-it-or-lose-it currency that is valid only for that round.
Collect all cards that were in the play area, all discarded cards, and any cards newly purchased during the Card Building Phase.
Shuffle them together to create a new Shared Deck.
Next, update the Round Card display.
Slide the Summary Card so that the next higher round number is visible.
Place any defeated Skeleton tokens onto the spaces above the players’ current floor that show Skeleton illustrations and are still empty.
Skeleton tokens that were not defeated remain where they are. When both players leave the card, remove those Skeleton tokens and place them in the same way on empty spaces with Skeleton illustrations on higher floors.
Once preparation is complete, return to ① and begin the next round.
If both players are on the same floor, they may reveal their hands and communicate freely.
Once the players become separated onto different floors, all game-related communication is prohibited, and hands must be kept hidden.
This restriction is applied immediately, even if it occurs during the same round.
When the players reach the same floor again, they may reveal their hands and resume communication.
If the players start a round on different floors, the round begins with hidden hands and no communication.
During the Card Building Lounge, players may discuss deck building even if they are on different floors.
If all Skeletons illustrated on a single Tower Card are defeated, flip that Tower Card over and gain a new skill.
However, if players climb to higher floors without defeating the Skeletons, this process does not occur.
There are three skills that can be obtained.
If the same skill appears in multiple locations, it can only be obtained once. After that, even if all Skeletons shown on a Tower card are defeated, no additional reward is gained.
Level 3 cards function as both red and blue cards.
This means they can be placed on top of either red or blue cards. Likewise, both red cards and blue cards can be placed on top of a Level 3 card.
Level 3 cards (1 and 2) have both the Up Arrow icon and the Sword icon. You may resolve either icon effect first; the order does not matter.
If all enemies on the BOSS floor are defeated within 12 rounds, both players win the game.
If all Skeletons on the BOSS floor are not defeated within 12 rounds, both players lose the game.
Each tower has its own unique special ability.
The Skull Tower, inhabited by Skeletons, has the following special rule:
Players must achieve the victory condition within 11 rounds, which is one fewer round than usual.
・f the common deck has 5 cards or fewer, cards are dealt starting with the Start Player for that round. For example, if there are exactly 5 cards remaining in the common deck, the Start Player receives 3 cards and the other player receives 2 cards.
