The Capability to Recover
The KUMC Garden of Resilience at the Landon Center on Aging will offer people the opportunity to sit or just walk through to enjoy the ambience of a garden designed with plants specifically to support healing. In this garden, we will co-create a partnership in which plants and people work together. Co-partnership means that a plant or group of plants can provide direct resources for recovery, a deeper sense of well-being, and transformation for those who seek it. Plants want to help us heal our dis–ease, but we have to ask. The KUMC Garden of Resilience will be created in true partnership, working directly with the Spirit of each plant to support healing and recovery.
Every person who takes a moment in this garden will have the opportunity to breathe more deeply, feel the textures of the plants, and enjoy the beauty of their color and aroma. Walk the path, sit on a bench, or write in the waterproof journal before or after the doctor’s appointment. Plants will meet us wherever we are and bring the wisdom and healing we most need. Come support this unique healing project.
Support the KUMC Landon Center's Garden of Resilience: A new sanctuary for our community.
The University of Kansas is embarking on an inspiring initiative to create the Garden of Resilience at the Landon Center on Aging, and we are reaching out to ask for your support in bringing this project to life.
Designed by a landscape artist, the space is designed to be more than just a garden; it will serve as a living sanctuary on our campus, dedicated to fostering mental well-being, reflection, and community strength. By integrating native prairie ecosystems with thoughtful design, the Garden of Resilience will provide patients, caregivers, students, faculty, and the KUMC community with a peaceful retreat to recharge and connect with nature.
Your contribution to this LaunchKU "Garden of Resilience” campaign will directly fund the essential elements needed to complete the garden at the Landon Center, from sustainable landscaping and native plantings to the structural features that make the space accessible and inviting.
Donations under $150 will be directly used to fund the planting and maintenance of the Garden of Resilience. Donations over $150 will be eligible to purchase a brick in honor of their family or loved one. Bricks will be placed in the Garden of Resilience at the Landon Center as a token of our appreciation for your support. More information can be found at the website below.
Every gift, regardless of size, helps us reach our goal and demonstrates the power of our Jayhawk community coming together to support student wellness and campus sustainability.
