Workshop on Capturing and Logging Ecological Virtual Experiences and Reality (CLEVER)
Co-located with the 31st IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces (VR 2024).
March 16-20, 2024 | Orlando, Florida USA
Schedule and Workshop Mission:
Important Note: IEEE VR 2024 will be an in-person event with no remote attendance capabilities.
Date and Time: Saturday 16th at 1:30pm to 5:30pm in room Fantasia D
Workshop Website: https://sites.google.com/view/clever-workshop/
Workshop Description:
In recent years, researchers have begun capturing and logging data from consumer virtual reality (VR) experiences, such as Half-Life: Alyx and Beat Saber. Such ecologically valid datasets afford numerous research insights and capabilities not possible with traditional study designs and implementations. This workshop focuses on how such ecologically valid datasets can be captured, what insights they afford, and their various use cases (e.g., identifying users based on their VR tracking data). This workshop is also a platform for presenting and discussing datasets captured from openly available VR and extended reality (XR) applications, including non-consumer projects.
Workshop Topics:
Analyses of data captured from consumer or open VR/XR applications.
Datasets captured from consumer or open VR/XR applications, including interactions, tracking data, and/or subjective responses.
Machine learning models based on data captured from consumer or open VR/XR applications.
Methodologies for capturing data from VR/XR applications.
Open-sourced VR/XR applications for capturing data.
Platforms for capturing data from VR/XR applications.
Research issues pertaining to using or capturing data from VR/XR applications.
Tools for capturing data from VR/XR applications.
Planned Schedule:
Notes on Presentations:
Each talk is allotted 25 total minutes, 15-20 minutes for the presentation and 5-10 minutes for questions and discussions. We hope to have a lively workshop and highly encourage questions and discussions! IEEE VR 2024 has slides to use for presentations, which are available here: https://ieeevr.org/2024/resources/slide-templates/
