Cavalier Chorale

The Advanced Chorale (pronounced kuh-ral) is one of the top choirs at Cleveland High School. This is a 30 - 40 member, mixed ensemble that consists of Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses. This choir performs intermediate to advanced repertoire consisting of a wide variety of musical genres (classical, musical theater, folk, gospel, soul, pop, rock, and a cappella). The Advanced Chorale performs at several school events including homecoming games, graduation, and three choir concerts per year. They also perform in several invitational choir festivals and competitions throughout southern California and have earned Gold and Superior ratings at nearly every event.

The Advanced Chorale is a fully-auditioned ensemble that meets during the school day and counts as performing arts elective credit. The group primarily consists of 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. We hold auditions for this ensemble during the 2 weeks prior to finals in both the fall and spring semesters. Incoming freshman interested in choir will automatically be placed into the Concert Choir (the non-auditioned, beginning choir) and are welcome to audition for either of the advanced groups at the end of the fall semester. If they pass the audition they will be invited to join one of the advanced ensembles in the spring.

Treble Chorus

The Advanced Treble Chorus is also one of the top choirs at Cleveland High School. This is a 30 - 40 member ensemble which consists of Sopranos and Altos exclusively. Like the Advanced Chorale, this choir performs intermediate to advanced repertoire consisting of a wide variety of musical genres. Advanced Treble performs at several choir festivals and competitions throughout southern California and consistently demonstrates excellence in each of their performances.

Advanced Treble Chorus is a fully-auditioned ensemble that meets after school as a 7th period and counts as performing arts elective credit.

Concert Choir

The Concert Choir is the beginning/intermediate choir at Cleveland High School. This 80 - 100 member, non-auditioned choir is comprised of students of all grades, experience levels, and voice parts (Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses). This choir performs beginning to intermediate repertoire consisting of a wide variety of musical genres. The Concert Choir performs twice a year (once in the fall and once in the spring) and always combines with the advanced ensembles in an all-choir final number for each of the two concerts.

The Concert Choir meets during the school day (split between two class periods) and counts as performing arts elective credit. Students in the Concert Choir may audition for either of the advanced choirs during the 2 weeks prior to finals in both the fall and spring semesters. Incoming freshman interested in choir will automatically be placed into the Concert Choir and are welcome to audition for either of the advanced groups at the end of the fall semester. If they pass the audition they will be invited to join one of the advanced ensembles the following semester.
