Cleveland Art Game 1.1 — May 2026 Vision: Let the Game Begin!
Imagine a crowd-source experiment in creativity and discovery that combines elements of a scavenger hunt, dungeons and dragons, reality tv show, spotaneous collaboration, and hands-on learning encounters.
Think of this game as a work of conceptual, relational, social and experiential art created and developed by a network of players. Think big: this buzzing creative network could be made up of hundreds of players, if not thousands.
Players enter and play the game by fulfilling the prompts on a series of game cards. The game unfolds in iterations of different durations, each iteration orbiting a beehive of card-driven activity. At all points, the game’s action is comprised of what the players are up to in that moment—what they are creating, with whom and with what they are connecting. One game card leads to the next game card. Players fulfill the prompts one randomly distributed card at a time.
At intervals, after the game starts, at a bash, players meet-up and share the game’s (and social artwork’s) progress with each another. The game keeps going on, driven by the unknown tasks players are next prompted to do.
Each iteration concludes with a celebratory feast and showcase of its creations and learnings; its wondrous serendipities; amazing discoveries; new relationships and fresh stories. Here it becomes obvious the collective artwork itself is a living response to the game and what the game evokes.
The Cleveland Art Game 1.0 is unabashedly experimental, inclusive and generative. Its art is game play, and the aim of its play is a social sculpting which leaves a transformative impressions on player, on relationships and on creative communities alike.

How The Cleveland Art Game works:
Cleveland Art Game (CAG) is a collaborative experiment, and a socially sculpted engaged artwork. The game sets individual players on various prompt-driven randomized quests particularized through their execution of a succession of prompted tasks given by CAG GAME CARDS. The tasks are autonomously or collaboratively fulfilled in the region’s locales and creative communities.
The tasks are of different kinds: creative, creative collaboration, inquiry based, documentary, discovery-based; wild cards. Each CAG GAME CARD describes an activity the player interprets and fulfills. The completed task is next distributed to social media via the tag #cleartgame and shared to the Cleveland Art Game's Instagram account. Task prompts are largely distributed from player to player through access to the repository. Prompt cards also are passed along at Quest meetups and CAG events.
Entrant players are likely in someway related to or a participant in the region’s creative communities—across the studio and media arts, music, dance, writing, acting, other creative forms. Yet, because everybody is an artist the Cleveland Art Game is open to anybody willing to fulfill a prompted task.
The game has started. New players may join by receiving their first CAG task prompt from a QUEST member or by email: quest.cleartgame@gmail.com
