My name is Bagheera, after being in the Australian Army Cadets in both Perth and Brisbane between the age 12 – 18, I developed an interest in many activities conducted by the cadets.
This time in the cadets has taught me several important life skills that I have been able to transfer in to my professional career.
Fast forward a few years, my wife and I decided to enrol 2 of our 3 boys in the scout group at Cleveland. After noticing a lot of similarities between Scouts and the Army Cadets, I was encouraged by the skills that are taught, discipline and respectful nature of the program.
After a year of my son being in cubs, I decided to become an Adult Leader to revisit and improve my existing skill set and to teach the youth skills that I had been taught at a young age.
I have completed my training in Scouting Essentials and Scouting Adventure, earning my certificate of competency and certificate of appointment.
I will be attending the Scouting Leadership course later this year or early next year, so I can start my wood badge project.
I am very lucky to be in a team of leaders with so many years of experience.
I am a Senior Project Manager for a traffic management company, so the process that Scouts teaches “Plan > Do > Review” is second nature to me and believe that it a very important tool.
I enjoy:
Bushwalking
Navigation
Fishing
Camping
Knots and Pioneering
Kayaking
Yours in Scouting,
Matthew
