Scouting is heavily reliant on volunteers. Our Group is the way it is because of the volunteers we have, contributing to the education and development of Youth Members in their local communities. If you are coming to this page to sign up your child as a Scout, we recommend you involve yourself with our group as well. Scouting is for both children and adults, some positions Adult Members can fill are below.
Lead Joey Scouts (5-8), Cub Scouts (8-11), Scouts (11-14), Venturer Scouts (14-18) or Rover Scouts (18-26) at Cleveland as a uniformed affirmed member of The Scout Association of Australia, Queensland Branch Inc. Leaders at Cleveland are funded by the group, and all training is provided inside of the Scouting Organisation, and can be used in everyday life.
A uniformed member of the Scout Association of Australia, Queensland Branch who is responsible for the provision of a safe, inclusive, engaging and challenging Youth Program based on the Scout Method, personal progression framework and the SPICES suitable for Scouts
Facilitate outdoor experiences and learning for Scouts including bushcraft, bushwalking, and camping as well as other specialty activity areas depending on the section
Support the facilitation of Section Unit Councils and leadership requirements.
Ensure that the youth program is offered in a safe environment that protects all Scouts
Coordinate the delivery of the Youth Program to Scouts with other Scout Leaders within the Unit and with other units with in Group, District and Region
Participate actively in Group life and the wider Scouting Community

Provides support with communication between parents, chasing paperwork requirements from Youth Members.

This position is a uniformed Leader of Adults, and manages the Group in ways such as:
Develop and maintain a Scout Group within the local community
Responsible, through Section Leaders, for the welfare, progress and training of young people within the Group
Recruit and arrange training of adequate, competent and committed Leaders for the Group, and have Adult
Development Plans in place with all Leaders
Monitor the delivery of the Youth Program for young people to be assured that it is delivered in accordance with the program performance standards and safety standards of the Association
Encourage the effective operation of a Group Support Committee to provide financial and physical resources
Prepare and maintain the Group Plan and obtain agreement of the District Commissioner for its implementation
Assess and manage the performance of all Leaders in the Group as part of managing the staffing function and take necessary action to provide adequate quality of leadership within in the Group
Nominate Adult Recognition Awards for suitable and eligible uniformed and non-uniformed personnel
Make certain that the Group operates in accordance with the Association’s Policy and Rules, and Queensland Branch Scouting Instructions (QBSI)
Facilitate effective communication among the Leaders of the Group and Chair of the Group Support Committee
Establish a friendly atmosphere in the Group and that in particular new youth and adult members and their families are made to feel welcome.
Co-operate with and maintain good relations with other youth organisations in the community.
This position is a uniformed Leader of Adults, and supports the Group Leader in ways such as:
Communicating with parents of the group
Facilitating and actioning requirements of Scout Leaders and Youth Members
Chasing members for paperwork or training requirements.
Show up to Scout Meetings as a supporter, or simply be a reliable transporter to and from camps. All support is greatly appreciated at Cleveland, so let us know how you can help!
To provide support and assistance to the Group Leader and Assistant Group Leader in managing Group property resources, fund raising, grant writing and acquittal, parent involvement, Group family communication and accounting
Lead the Group Support Committee to meet the requirements of Policy & Rules and Queensland Branch Scouting Instructions (QBSI)
Make sure that the Group Support Committee meet on regular basis and chair the meeting
To provide assistance and support to the Group Leader andAssistant Group Leader with the preparation of the Group’s Annual Plan and property development plan
Assist the Group Leader with the preparation of the Annual Report
Chair the Annual Report Presentation
Provide support to members of the Group Support Committee to ensure that they can fulfil their appointed roles
To provide support and assistance to the Group Support Committee Chairman in connection with meetings held
Notices of meeting are distributed in a timely manner
Agenda for meetings are prepared and distributed
Minutes of meetings
The role meets the applicable requirements of Policy & Rules and Queensland Branch Scouting Instructions (QBSI)
To provide support to the Group Support Committee Chairperson and the Group Leader in the preparation of
The Group Plan
The Annual report etc
Provide support to other members of the Group Support Committee to ensure that they can fulfil their appointed roles
Develop and maintain Group Support Committee induction “packs”
Appropriately save and manage retention of Groups records
Preparation and submission of press and public Facebook to publicise Group activities
To provide support and assistance to the Group Leader and Assistant Group in providing for and accurately accounting for the financial resources of the Group
Conduct the financial operations to meet the requirements of Policy & Rules and Queensland Branch Scouting Instructions (QBSI)
To prepare a budget each year for the operation of the Group and to recommend the setting of the group fee for the year
To provide assistance and support to the Group Leader and Assistant Group Leader with the preparation of the Group Plan
Provide regular updates of expenditure v’s budget at the regular Group Support Committee meetings
Assist the Group Leader with the preparation of the written Annual Report, by arranging the provision of an audited financial return
Prepare the Financial report for the Group leader to submit to Scouts Queensland
