Clémentine Bouleau

I hold a PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics and the Centre d'Économie de la Sorbonne (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), completed under the supervision of Nicolas Jacquemet and Maël Lebreton. 

I specialize in behavioural and experimental economics, with a focus on gender inequalities in access to leadership. My PhD dissertation examines how gender gaps emerge, persist, and widen along the path to leadership: who volunteers to lead, how candidates are evaluated by their peers, and who keeps applying after rejection. I also work on bridging rigorous lab-based methods with large-scale, AI-integrated online experiments—helping piloting Google’s Deliberate Lab platform to study and mitigate gender disparities in leadership aspirations.

I am now looking to apply this expertise in policy-oriented settings: diagnosing the behavioural barriers that keep policies from producing their intended effects, testing interventions through rigorous experiments before they are scaled, and translating the results into concrete design recommendations.
