** English Directed Self Placement Test **
New Changes per the English Department: The test will now take a minimum of 45 minutes to complete and the format is now slightly different with more questions to answer to get a better understanding of students' academic reading and writing skills.
The DSP is primarily a questionnaire that guides you to select an English course that best suits your experience level with academic reading and writing.

Choose an English Class
After looking at your suggested placement and reviewing the class options consider which you want to take for your first semester and select that option. If you choose ENG 108 or ENG 121/100 the test ends after you submit it.
If you choose an ENG 121 placement* or looking to obtain College Reading and Writing Readiness (CRWR) right away, which is a prerequisite for many classes when you get to the page that prompts you to choose a class please select ENG 121 which is the last option. You will aslo need CRWR if you need to register for CLC 120.
*Additional Portion of Test - A Reading Comprehension Exam & Writing Sample
It will then have you read a passage (about 1 page), answer questions pertaining to the passage, and answer a writing prompt. It will be graded by the English department within 3 business days and the results will be sent to your CLC student email.
The questionnaire part may only take you about 45 minutes to complete. If you decided that you wish to place into ENG 121 or earn the designation that you are a College Reading and Writing ready student that part is untimed and you can take as long as you wish to finish the second portion of the test.
