The beautiful, bustling City of Annapolis is largely known for the Naval Academy, Downtown district, Historic buildings, and the Annapolis Mall. What many people discover when they visit is there is a section of the town in the "Inner West Street" area that was segregated to African-Americans. During the 1940's and 50's, the Clay Street community was a vibrant area full of locally owned businesses, community sense of pride, and schools.
The individuals below are pioneers in the "Old Fourth Ward" and have served the community in many capacities.
