A Green Team is an organized group of students who work together to make their school and/or local community more sustainable. Our Green Team will collaborate to find and implement solutions to reduce waste and litter and increase composting. Students in this group will also help with the school garden in the Spring and Fall.
How does a clean environment support student learning?
Allows students to focus on task at hand rather than an obstacle in their environment
Benefits the health and safety of staff and students
Instills good habits
Why should we care about compost?
“The waste of food scraps directly contributes to landfills being the second largest source of human-related methane emissions in the United States. Methane is a lesser known greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, accounting for 20% of greenhouse gases, but has 25 times the impact on temperature change,” (Composting, 2015).
