Claw VPN ("the App", "we", "us") is a free virtual private network (VPN) service operated by Claw VPN. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this Policy.
We designed the App to protect your privacy. We do NOT monitor, record, store, or sell the contents of your network traffic, the websites or apps you visit, your DNS queries, or your browsing history while connected to the VPN — we cannot disclose what we do not keep. We do keep a limited amount of connection metadata needed to run a free, metered service (see section 3c); this is not a record of your browsing activity.
To run a free service we collect the minimum data below.
A randomly generated device/installation identifier used to create your guest account and to grant your free VPN time (credit).
Basic device/technical info: platform (Android/iOS), app version, device model and OS version.
Your IP address is used transiently to establish the VPN tunnel and to infer an approximate region; we do not retain your source IP as part of any browsing or traffic activity log.
By default you use a guest account tied only to the device identifier — no name or email required.
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a provider identifier and the email/display name you authorise, solely to link your account.
Which VPN server/country you select, session start/stop time, periodic keep-alive ("heartbeat") signals, and your remaining free-time credit.
We use this only to operate the service (assign a server, meter free time, prevent abuse). It is connection metadata — not the content of your traffic.
Daily-reward events (e.g. that you claimed your free-time credit) so we can credit your time and prevent abuse, verified server-side.
Crash and diagnostic data via Google Firebase (Crashlytics). Firebase may also process device identifiers and IP address for crash diagnostics, per Google's privacy terms.
Provide and maintain the VPN connection and your free-time credit.
Grant your daily free-time credit and prevent reward abuse.
Diagnose crashes, prevent fraud/abuse, and improve reliability.
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data only with:
Service providers that power the App — e.g. Google Firebase (crash reporting) and the hosting and VPN server infrastructure providers we use.
App stores (Google Play / Apple) if you make an optional in-app purchase (a feature that may not be available in all versions); the store processes payment — we do not receive your full payment details.
Law enforcement and competent authorities — where required by valid legal process, or where we reasonably believe the App is being used for unlawful or harmful purposes, we may suspend the account and disclose or report the limited account and connection metadata we hold. Note we cannot produce browsing or traffic activity logs, because we do not keep them.
The third-party services we integrate process data under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read:
Google (overall): https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google Firebase (Crashlytics) — privacy & security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Apple (Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases, where used): https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
We keep data only as long as needed to run the service:
Connection metadata (server/country, session start/stop, heartbeats, credit): deleted or anonymised within 30 days after the session ends.
Daily-reward and credit records: up to 12 months, for fraud prevention and accounting.
Crash and diagnostic data: per Firebase defaults (around 90 days).
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@clawvpn.website. Because a guest account has no email or name on file, please include your installation identifier (shown in the App's Settings/About screen) so we can locate and delete your records; we action verified requests within 30 days. You can also rotate your guest identity at any time by clearing the App's data or reinstalling.
VPN traffic is encrypted using the IKEv2/IPsec protocol. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect stored data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
The VPN servers and service providers we use may be located in various countries. By using the App you understand your data may be processed in countries other than your own, with safeguards as required by applicable law.
Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, to object, to data portability, and to opt out of the "sale"/"sharing" of personal information (we do not sell). To exercise these rights contact us at support@clawvpn.website; see section 6 for how to request deletion (including how guest users can identify their records).
The App is intended for users who are at least 16 (and never below the minimum age of digital consent in their country). It is not directed to anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe someone under 16 has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
