Scratchers

All cats are different, and we are prepared for it.

Studies have shown that cats prefer various textures to scratch at, and differing structures. We at Claws Out! offer a series of steps for you to follow to find the perfect scratcher for your cat!

STEP 1

Examine what your cat prefers to scratch in your home. Is it carpets, couches, chairs? Do they typically go in an upward or downward motion when scratching?

Hone in on what your cat scratches the most often, and if they go into an upward or downward motion when scratching. Narrow it down to at most two frequencies.

Based on your findings, look into our options. For cats that like scratching carpet, consider the materials carpet and cardboard and a flat, floor based structure. If your cat prefers to scratch couches, then go for wood or sisal rope, and a structure that stands and is on the taller side.
