Claudius ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Multi-Model AI Chat Bot macOS application ("the App").

1. No Account Required

The App does not require user registration or account creation.

We do not collect personal profile information such as email addresses or passwords for an in-app account.

2. Data Storage (Local-First)

The App is designed with a local-first architecture.

• Chat conversations are stored locally on your Mac using on-device storage.

• We do not store your chat history on our servers.

• We do not operate a cloud database for your conversations.

Optional display name you enter in the App (for example, a greeting) is stored only on your device.

3. Sharing Data with Third-Party AI and Search Services

To generate AI responses, the App sends certain information from your device to third-party services only after you review and accept the in-app Data Sharing Notice, and when you send a message or use features that require AI processing.

3.1 What may be sent

When you use chat or related AI features, the App may transmit:

• Your chat messages and prior messages in the same conversation (conversation context)

• Text extracted locally from file attachments you choose to include

• Web search queries and summarized search results when web search is used

• The AI model you select

3.2 Who receives it

Anthropic (Claude API)

Your messages and related context are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate AI replies. Anthropic processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not control how Anthropic handles data after it is transmitted. Please review Anthropic’s privacy policy at: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy

Web search (when enabled)

When the App performs a web search, it may query DuckDuckGo and retrieve content from public websites to provide up-to-date context. Summarized results may be included in requests sent to Anthropic. We do not control how those third parties handle data. Please review their respective privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. File Attachments

If you attach files:

• Text is extracted locally on your device.

• Extracted content may be included in AI requests only if you choose to send the message.

• Original files are not uploaded to our servers; content is sent to AI providers only as part of the message request described above.

5. Voice Input (Microphone and Speech Recognition)

The App offers optional voice input:

• The microphone is used to capture your voice and transcribe it into text in the chat input field on your Mac.

• Speech Recognition (including Apple’s system speech services) may be used for transcription. Apple may process speech data as described in the system permission dialogs on your Mac.

• Audio is not sent to Anthropic. Only text you send in a message may be shared with Anthropic as described in Section 3.

You can decline microphone or speech recognition permissions in macOS System Settings; voice input will not work without the permissions you choose to grant.

6. Analytics and Tracking

The App does not use:

• Advertising trackers

• Behavioral analytics for advertising

• Third-party marketing SDKs

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Choices

• You must accept the in-app Data Sharing Notice before the App sends chat or attachment content to AI providers.

• You can stop using AI features at any time by not sending messages.

• You can delete local chats within the App.

• You can revoke microphone or speech recognition access in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
