Use the Question Feature for Quick Formative Assessments

Create daily or weekly questions to gauge student understanding of the material. You can ask open-ended questions or use multiple choice for quicker responses. This gives you insight into where students may need more help.

Leverage Google Meet for Virtual Office Hours

Set up office hours using Google Meet, which is integrated into Classroom. Share the link directly through the platform so that students can drop by with questions. This can be a great way to maintain personalized support, even remotely.

Provide Feedback in Various Forms

Instead of just leaving written comments, use voice comments for a personal touch. You can record quick audio responses to assignments or posts to offer more nuanced feedback without spending as much time typing.

Collaborate with Peers

Use the "Collaborative Files" feature to have students work on shared documents, spreadsheets, or slides. You can have them co-edit in real time. This is an excellent way to foster teamwork and collaborative learning in a digital space.

Encourage Self-Paced Learning

For students who want to accelerate their learning, create assignments and materials they can complete at their own pace. Use the "Assigned" date function but make it clear they can submit work whenever they are ready, within a broader time frame.

Incorporate Gamification

If your students are into games, consider creating a rewards system within Google Classroom. For example, students could earn badges for completing tasks on time, engaging with the class, or showing improvement. Use external tools, like Classcraft or Google Forms, to track these achievements.

Automate Repetitive Tasks with Rubrics

Google Classroom allows you to create rubrics for grading assignments. Instead of grading every single aspect of a student’s work manually, use rubrics to save time and ensure consistency in grading. These also provide clear expectations for your students.

Foster Peer Review

Have students submit drafts of their work, then use Google Classroom’s “Peer Review” feature for them to evaluate each other’s submissions. This not only helps with revision but builds a supportive classroom culture where students help one another improve.

Use Google Classroom for Parent Communication

For recurring topics or concepts, create a "Resource Bank" in your Classroom stream or as a pinned post. This might include helpful websites, video tutorials, PDFs, or notes that students can reference when working on assignments
