ABSTRACT

Classic automobiles have played a pivotal role in shaping the automotive industry and have special recognition worldwide. These vehicles are much more than simply old cars or means of transportation. They represent specific eras' cultural, historical, and technological accomplishments and can be considered masterpieces, often holding significant financial value. However, to be considered true works of art, vintage cars must be conserved in mint condition or properly restored following strict guidelines and expert restoration services, accompanied by meticulous documentation encompassing all pertinent information and other relevant details.

For this reason, all the relevant information respective to a classic car, such as fundamental details, technical documentation, certification information, and especially data about restoration or conservation processes, containing information from each performed step on these procedures and other essential documentation records must be adequately recorded to guarantee that they are not possible to be tampered or suffer any unauthorized modifications, allowing it to be shared with authorized entities.

This research addresses the mentioned challenge by proposing a blockchain-based decentralized solution. Comprising a web application utilizing Hyperledger Fabric blockchain network features, this solution ensures the secure and trustworthy recording of classic cars’ information, restoration procedures, and associated documentation. It guarantees data immutability, traceability, and transparency while promoting data sharing and collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

The research and resulting solution underwent thorough validation, garnering positive feedback and interest from various entities in the classic vehicles sector. It is anticipated that this solution will contribute to the digital transformation of the classic automotive domain, enhancing credibility and trustworthiness through improved documentation. This enhanced documentation can also increase the financial value of classic cars and aid in elevating their status to that of masterpieces.
