An instance of two or more people coming together again after a period of separation. In 2010, 225 of the class of 1970 joined together for our 40th reunion. In 2016 127 Cavaliers came together again to enjoy commaraderie, community, connection, and Philia (fraternal love). Once again in 2021, after being postponed a year due to the spread of Covid19, Class of 1970 held their Golden Gathering turning to one another for moments of laughter, tears, love and joy.
"How is this possible? That was a quick 5 years!
We need to have another reunion.
Hi,
I am Stacey Sims Maxwell, Gables High Class of 1970. As the Crazy Reunion Lady, I have had the pleasure of organizing the Class of 1970 40th Reunion in 2010, the first Gables Geezers multi-class Get together in 2016, and the Class of 1970 Golden Gathering in 2021. I have had the pleasure of working with many of you on these events Martha Cox D'Lugos, Barbara Evans (RIP), Janet Gibby, Nancy Snowman, David Wasser, Evie Cater, and many others. A special shout out to Donna Vogel-Allen who has ALWAYS been there to support the creation of the vision.
It's been wonderful getting know classmates that I didn't know way back when, but are part of my life now! I can honestly say that one of the greatest pleasures of my life has been to see the glow of everyone together sharing joy, connection, community and a whole lotta Cavalier Love. See you in January!
May Peace, Love, and Light be your companion
During the early days of 2025, the question, "Anything planned for this year? ", was posed to me numereous times by numerous people. The words spoken quite casually, yet always leading to a conversation about, who is struggling with their health, who is dealing with dementia, and who has died. Yep, we are of that age now. Weird, I tell ya! The next part of the conversation also follows a pattern. It starts with how great it was be be together in 2021. How much fun it was. The great conversations, and meeting people they never knew in high school, but wish they had. Being grateful for having those moments with someone who has died in these years in between. So.... While I fully never intended to create another Gables Geezers Getting Together, these conversations touched my soul with their importance in our lives. Let's do it one more time for us and let's celebrate doubly for those who have passed on.
Now it the time to celebrate lifelong friendships, and the ties of a shared experience of youth. It's Gables High, that brings us together and binds this very diverse, unique, group of Gables Geezers 1968-1972. I guess it's only natural to want to reconnect. To experience the beauty of a life coming full circle. To laugh together and maybe even shed a tear, to embrace the old days and make new memories with old friends.......and maybe make some new "old" friends too! Let's Party
