I have a personal desire to ensure students have access to literature in the classroom that is relevant, compelling, and readable. I also believe that students are the primary stakeholders in the classroom library and as such should be active participants in the construction of it. The literature reveals that even while teachers want to provide students with books that inspire their reading, and in some cases believe they are prioritizing student input in book title selection, student participation in construction of the classroom library is actually limited, and that book title selection is at risk of teacher bias.
