Clark Sayre, 60's, quirky, creative and prone to inspirational Christian themes (whatever the medium,) hopes you enjoy his bio and spend the rest of your day looking over his cool ideas for TV shows, movies and shorts. He'd love to meet YOU too! But let's face it - he'd really love for you to actually BUY something (or help him SELL one of his goodies.)
And since we're speaking in third person about the guy who's obviously writing this, we'll say: Sayre has written three full feature length screenplays ILLUSIONAL (thriller/grounded horror,) HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD (drama/comedy) and DOUBLE PLAY (thriller.) He's written a Series Bible, Pilot, and two episodes for SITUATION-SHEEP: A Teen's Quest for Greener Pastures a 76K word humorous, faith-based, young adult fiction novel. He's also written the short entitled SANDWRITING (drama.) He has over ten other features in various stages of development. He's normally a very humble person, unless he's writing a bio, composing a resume or trying to impress his grown children Blaine, 26, or Kailey 24. Anything they do impresses him.
Heading back to the PROFESSIONAL bio. after a slight personal diversion, Sayre has had several of his stage plays produced including: NO IFS, ANDS OR BUTTS (a cautionary anti-tobacco tale for tweens,) LOOKING FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS (what the heck's in grannie's attic?,) ALICE IN CIRCUS LAND (a circus adaptation of ALICE IN WONDERLAND,) BLACKBOARD JUNGLE CRUISE (a parody on "No Child Left Behind,), CELLFISH (texting versus face-to-face communication,) DISTORTED (the seven Cognitive Distortions personified,) and MURDER AT THE MASQUERADE (an audience-immersive murder mystery.) He compiled the very first specialized Broadway Song Collection for kids entitled BROADWAY BEAT (published by Belwin Mills aka Warner/Chappel.) HIs original concept inspired MTI"s multi million dollar Broadway Jr. Collection. (He kicks himself daily for not getting this "in writing" or in the bank.) When not kicking himself, Sayre's other creative endeavors have included: launching the first Creative Studies program on the South Coast, creating interactive Murder Mystery Parties for children ages 10-18, launching a Youth Theater program for Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera and writing and performing a one-man show, called INVENTURES, that toured Southern California and premiered at Dillon's in New York City. Many of his titles (like Inventures,) look misspelled - some intentionally so, others autocorrected.
Sayre has performed in TV/Film (don't look these up) and on Broadway in Sondheim/Prince's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (you may look this up.) It was during this time Sondheim and Mary Rogers introduced Sayre to the NY Young Playwrights' Festival. Since then Sayre has founded Young Playwrights' Programs at two professional theaters: Rubicon Theatre in Ventura and Ensemble Theatre in Santa Barbara. He celebrates his former students who have become TV show runners, TV and film writers, novelists, video game creators and trade magazine editors. Occasionally, they celebrate him too... as they did with OUR TIME, a special tribute to Sayre at 54 Below March 29, 2023. He still gets kinda choked up about it.
As Sayre (the guy NOT writing this bio) is prone to do, he sometimes gets a little ahead of himself. Before bringing up "former students," he should explain that he taught and directed high school theater for 22 years and strongly affirms Steven King's observation that "directing teenagers is like juggling jars of nitro-glycerin." Thankfully Sayre also taught junior high theater for 4 years and 5th grade for 5 years. He has enjoyed participating in a professional writers group for the past several years with writers he greatly respects, including an Academy Award winner. Speaking of name-dropping, Sayre can spout off dozens of famous award-winning actors, writers, directors and producers who have either mentored his students or been guest speakers for his classes. He thanks them all tremendously... especially if one of them is still bothering to read this. Double blessings to you! I'll... uh... I mean, HE'LL stop now.
He currently teaches drama and music with Children's Creative Project and runs a private voice/acting studio.
